Texas motor speedway pace car?

I bought an 85 Z-28. It has a big blue sticker on the front windshield from Texas Motor Speedway, some one started to remove, but from what i can tell it says official pace car. The car is solid black and it looks original, i thought the pace cars had special paint and decals, can this be right? i mean you cant just buy stickers like that can you?

Sounds like the speedway used that car for their pace car, but that does not mean it's a Pace car Camaro. The 3rd gen pace cars are 1982's only and they are silver and blue. Sounds like you have a normal Z28 that was used as a pace car by a local track.

Ahh... Makes sense. I don't know why I thought every pace car was a "pace edition". Now That I think about it I feel a little silly lol

I'd contact TMS & see if they can help you identify your car. I assume the decal shows the TMS name on it?

No. 6,360 '82 "Pace Cars Replicas" were built, so it would be a little difficult to have all of them on the track for one race.

According to the Camaro White Book, two cars were built for the actual race, and had all-aluminum 350s instead of the 305s that went into the 6,360 Pace Car Replicas that were sold to the public.

This is correct. It would have been a cool sight to see all 6360 of them together.

Re: Texas motor speedway pace car?

Are you sure it's Texas Motor Speedway or Texas World Speedway? TMS opened in 1997 as far as I remember. TWS opened in the 70's and hosted NASCAR races into the early 80's .

Re: Texas motor speedway pace car?

Interesting that an 85 Camaro would be used by a track that opened in 1997. Do you have a picture of the car??

Well that's odd-so the Camaro paced the races and towed the car off the track as well? LOL! Yeah please post some pix of the car.

Re: Texas motor speedway pace car?

Sounds like somebody who had a TMS fetish went to the local Trimline store and had some stickers cut for himself.

I'm guessing, you don't have A CLUE how cheeeep and eeeeeezy that is?
