Medium Orange 5-speed car
Just found this 88 Medium Orange Metallic 5-speed car with 37k original miles on it. Has some bad aftermarket wheels and may need a little TLC but I have to say it is a rare car. Only 3,010 of these cars were made and I have never ran into a 5-speed.
The only one I have ever seen with a 5-speed was in print. It was a GM test car back in 88 in a magazine.
If the price was better I would be driving it right now. I know Charlie would want this one.

Anyone know how to get the pics of craigslist?

I would trade my current 88 medium orange auto for it. I may go check this thing out since it is local for me. But it is just not the right price for me at this time in my life. I am going to keep an eye on it for any price changes. Still could end up in my garage.

It would be worth taking a look. I'll bet he has the original wheels. And it would be interesting to see it's options.
Take a picture of the codes to reference.
Saving pic's ; First enlarge them on craigs, then mouse over the pic and right click...then click save picture to your files.
You should be able to buy it for quite a bit less..... IMO these cars are at a bottom price wise for nice examples....

Re: Medium Orange 5-speed car
Ive seen those wheels before. They were pretty popular in the late 80s/early 90s. There are def worse looking aftermarket wheels for these cars but yea id rather see the original double lined golds on that one!

Very nice car and I looked at an 88 SC last year with the same wheels, not my cup of tea, but could be worse. If he still has the stock wheels that would be much better. I cannot get into the listing here at work, but it looks like a nice car-what's he asking?

Re: Medium Orange 5-speed car
The irony in aftermarket wheels is that the guy paid a lot of money for them so he mistakenly thinks they add to the value of the car, when in actual fact they have the extreme opposite effect.
This is good news if you're a buyer. One look at the first pic of aftermarket wheels will turn off a huge slice of the market, which results in less bidders for you to compete with. When you make your offer, deduct the cost of acquiring the correct wheels, plus take off another $1000 discount.
The only time aftermarket wheels add to the value of a car is if it's a super highly engineered resto-mod, or if the wheels are worth more than the rustbucket they are screwed onto.

Re: Medium Orange 5-speed car
What's that stuff on the passenger side dash? And those wheels? Ugh. I know they're period correct but they didn't age well. Beyond those things, and the cheesy Pep Boyz door edge guards, very sharp. I love the dark grey and medium orange 1988-only IROCs!

A little elbow grease and some removal of the aftermarket stuff would go a long way towards justifying and possibly raising his asking price... easy fixes. Fix the dash, remove the edge guards, find some stock rims, clean it up (especially the engine bay), take some nicer photos, and you're done.

Yup, this car is just waiting for the elbow grease of a tasteful owner to become spectacular!

Re: Medium Orange 5-speed car
Looks like one of those chessy woodgrain dash kits from the 80's and 90's. Some of them screwed into the dash and some of them were glued on. This car may actually need a complete dash to get rid of it without showing some type of damage.

Re: Medium Orange 5-speed car
The wood grain dash kits used double sided tape anywhere they could. The screwed on pieces went where screws were holding the original pieces in place like the console.

I would happily pay his asking price if he was nearby. How the hell could I say no? An orange hardtop 5 speed 88 to go with my grey t-top L98 88??
Damn...
