National Database

I was just wondering if there is a national database to see how many
3rd gen. are still registered on the road.

None that I've ever heard of and would be VERY hard to keep up-dated and accurate.

Im a long time database administrator and if a site had all the DMVs required to send their registration records in it would not be that hard if they were scheduled.

I bolded the hard part. The database would be stupid simple... the issue is getting the records from all the DMVs.

Therein lies the problem. What site has all the DMV registration records from all 50 states and Canada? Not to mention Europe and Australia.

Re: National Database

A best guess estimate ?

I have a feeling 3rd Gens are going through a thinning period right now.
If you watch Craislist you see alot in disrepair or not running for sale.

AMEN!

Please understand I'am NOT trying to discourage anyone from getting such a database. But what would it tell us about currently registered F-Bodys? So a couple of questions:

1. Is the car a daily driver?
2. If so, what condition is it in?
3. Is it a seldom driven car?
4. Is it a 'Garage Queen?
5. Does a Son/Daughter sometimes drive it but is registered in Father's/Mother's name?
6. Is it a Driver and Combo Race (Track) Car?

And the list can go on and on........

Excellent observation Van Nuys!......

I saw this happen with the 1stgen F-Bodys and the Midyear Vettes (1962-67) as well as the late 1960s/early 70s Chevelles and Novas.

Now could be the time to scoop-up that desirable car of your dreams and restore it.

So you've seen it happen before too..... Only the cars that are well loved will survive

True!

And not only the well loved cars but the ones that have a clear paper trail back to the original owner.

Yes, I know this can be difficult many times but could be well worth the time spent for a desirable thirdgen F-Body.

You are right.
We buy ones that are not running/ sitting, accidents, etc.
If we can repair them, we do, but often we find the frames are rusted to being dangerous, or the accidents have done such serious damage, you can't safely repair them.
