85 All Gold TA?
Hello fbody crew, I use to be a 4gen owner and sold my T/A when I retired from the Navy (4 years ago). I've been missing out and wanting to get back into another T/A. Today I came across an 85 full gold TA in decent shape. It has the stock 5.0 HO 305 auto. in it. My question to the board since i'm still looking at the many threads on the forum is how many full gold TA's were there? I see many black on gold combo but hardly all gold. Is this a stock color option.
Thanks
Thanks

Re: 85 All Gold TA?
Any pictures? If possible, try to also get a picture of the SPID sticker on the inside wall of the center console - if it's there.
I believe the color is Light Chestnut Metallic, which was an option on the Trans Am. When you say 305 HO, you do mean the L69 - VIN G - right? That's the HO version as the LG4 - VIN H - was not the HO version.

Re: 85 All Gold TA?
Sorry i dont have pictures at this time since the car is still in storage. I'll be picking it up once the weather clears up. The motor is LG4 305 4bbl. The reason I said HO is because all the TA package markings on it. Right on the side fender by the air vent have a marking that shows 5.0 HO. Maybe this is something the last owner has put on for show. As for light chestnut metallic I would have to find what that color looks like and see if that's it?
Thanks

UPDATE: Well took a look at light chestnut metallic and yes that is the color. When I have time, ll take a look at the paint code for 60U/60L. Thanks again for pointing me to the right direction.

Is it like this one?

If so I think it's a fairly rare color, or at least I sure haven't seen one for sale recently.

It's not bad looking in all gold. The wrap around spoiler did not come out till 86 so that is why the deck looks differant

Re: 85 All Gold TA?
The wraparound spoiler was an option in 85 and not standard. it became standard in 86.. trust me
I was into them back then.

Re: 85 All Gold TA?
I'm assuming that color was the same "gold" used on the lower body of a lot of black/gold T/A's in the mid 1980's. I like that black/gold T/A trim a lot.

Re: 85 All Gold TA?
Thanks for adding more pics. That's it with the same color, and deck lid. I think the last owner added more T/A stickers on because It also has the bird on the hood.
Re: 85 All Gold TA?
The large hood bird was an option on the Trans Am. It's option code DX1. It may have been factory or added after.

Re: 85 All Gold TA?
In 1985, it was called Light Chestnut Metallic according to the order sheet. In 1986 it was called Champagne Gold according to the order sheet. The two carry the same RPO code (60).

Re: 85 All Gold TA?
Well I got some pictures this is what it's looks like the 1st day I saw it. Dirty and missing center caps, but overall in decent shape. Pick it up from a car dealer, it was from his private collection which he had two TA's. His personal toy was park by the gold TA he has the white 84 TA which had a lot work done to the motor. Since he likes older cars I offer him a 75 Monte Carlo which he likes and we made a trade on it.
Re: 85 All Gold TA?
Does it have the SPID on the inside wall of the center console? If so, please take a picture.
I don't believe those PW7 rims were available at that time so I don't think they're correct. No bad meant, just FYI. I suspect the hood bird is factory (DX1) because you don't have the smaller bird on the front bumper and, to my knowledge, that's correct.

Re: 85 All Gold TA?
I agree, the wheels don't look quite right but the car is a great find. If you can post a pix of the SPID tag with all the RPO codes like JT suggest, the experts here can tell all about the original options and trim on the car.

That's a clean looking car. Have you gotten it yet? How about some shots of the interior and under the hood. Nice score!

Re: 85 All Gold TA?
Thanks to all the like the car, It's in storage that this moment but I plan to pick up Sunday and look at it over and play around with it. I'll take pics of the engine and interior and the SPID sticker so I can have inputs on what came on the TA. As for the GTA rims, I like it but maybe updating the color and having them black instead of the gold? As for being very 80's, yes I agree. Maybe that's why I like the car so much because I was class of 85.
This is what I traded to get back into an fbody.

Re: 85 All Gold TA?
Well guys I stop by after work and took the car out, then stop by the part store and pick up stuff to change oil. When I got home and look under the center console It does not have the SPID sticker under there. Is that the only place were that sticker would be? I look in the rear hatch, spare tire, under the hood area. I'll get it clean up tomorrow and post some more pics. Also ran a carfax and find out it was a 2 owner car.
Re: 85 All Gold TA?
The SPID would only be located on the inside wall of the center console, unless it was a later 1991 or newer ThirdGen as they were located on the inside of the locking luggage compartment (or back on the inside wall of the center console if a convertible of that year).
Not sure if all 1985s got the SPID or not. Might try looking near the radiator for a plate that has lines of codes.
Unfortunately, if the SPID isn't there, there is no other option to find all RPO codes short of having the buildsheet. You can order an invoice from PHS to see some of the options but it won't contain all of the RPO codes.

You car's interior looks very good, but man, that steering wheel is done! lol.
Saw a very nice one on eBay a couple of days ago... http://bit.ly/17cIxHi
And the Fiero GT steering wheel is identical, except for the horn button, http://bit.ly/XZ3BR6

FYI,Classic Ind. has the original Pallax Cloth upholstery for your TA, I can't see your color, but it should be Camel/Graphite insert.

It appears to be very stockish underhood. A very good start since most of these cars have been severely hacked apart over the course of 28 years.

Looks like a great starting point. Enough to do to keep you interested and not too much to do to get you discouraged. I really like that color. Good luck with it.
