Post up your favorite 3rd gen restoration.
I've always loved these two:
This one is not a completely "correct" resto, in that it's had a color change and some other items changed, but it's such magnificent work.

This nut and bolt '82 Pace Car restoration was phenomenal:

That is great stuff. Every time I watch that slide show, it inspires me to maybe do a little project or two on one of my cars.
I hope we start seeing more top notch restos on 3rd gens like that.

Here's an '82 T/A. This guy is from Germany, where 3rd gen parts are rare.

Here's the photo index for the Pace Car, if you don't have time to watch the slide show.

Mike's pace car resto is stupid good. I wish I had the time, money, talent and tools to do mine that way. I draw a lot of motivation from his project.

I agree. I draw a lot of motivation from his restoration as well. It would be nice if his could become the new "standard" in 3rd gen restos and inspire folks who can, to do it up like that.

Is there a thread on the pace car restoration? (I looked at the amazing pics, but would like to read about how they did some of the parts of the restoration)

tnx for the link. Hadn't seen that before. You're right, being on this side of the pond does make redoing a car a whole lot more difficult, frustrating and especially time consuming.

That was easy. He's mostly in Randy's thread. His username is Indy_82.

Here are a couple pics of my first car, had it for 17 years. Like the top iroc posted, it wasn't a technical original resto, but was done specifically the way I wanted it for show and shines. The body was painted in Glasruit in 1996 at a resto shop I worked at as a teen, did an incredible job, it held up awesome so many years later. Everything else I did myself. Crate 305, T5, every nut and bolt polished, I had so many hours into that car it was rediculous. Won best of show at the Camaro / firebird show at Epping NH years ago and took many 1st place awards over the years against lots of competition. Like anything, tastes changed and I wanted a few low mile cars, the white one I have now is much more my taste

Here was my white 84 15th after I was done with it. Hated that car with a passion. Some cars appreciate the hard work by driving better and being more reliable when you are done with them, others will have two things break after you fix one. Car was stunning but was a car I am so glad that I do not own anymore
Put lots of time and effort into that one...

Mike joined up sometime last year. I think he did start a thread to introduce himself but didn't really do a deep dive on the work he did on his pace car.
