IROC-Z or not?

ok, i have seen where 2 people have said that the title of their car says "IROC-Z" on it. my title just says coupe on the title ... all the codes from the glove box match what is in/on the car (except the smoked tail lights) and it does have the Z28 code.
so my question is, did all the real irocs say it on the title?

Re: IROC-Z or not?

There are 50 states.

EVERY ONE issues titles differently.

No, they do not all put that on the title; the sticker package is of no particular concern to the people who issue titles.

"Smoked tail lights" is an aftermarket accessory. Ignore them.

In the earlier years of the IROC package, it was an upgrade from the Z28. Had its own RPO code B4Z. In later years, all Z28s got the IROC package, so they no longer had the B4Z RPO code that was the specific IROC code earlier on. I could be wrong; but I think 89 was one such year.

Re: IROC-Z or not?

the z28 code started in 88, so that was telling me it was an iroc, but i thought i should ask about the title, as it could have been a clone (as poorly as it was taken care of though, i didnt think it was a clone) ... thank you for the title info, i just they were all the same ... i have lived in other states, but all my cars have been from illinois

Look at the tire info sticker on the door if its still there and can be read. If it says the car has 16" wheels it is an IROC. ONly IROCs came with 16" wheels.

Not in 1989. Starting in 1988, the IROC-Z was available with 15" rims. As sofakingdom said, the 85-87 IROC-Z will have both the Z28 and B4Z RPO codes and the 88-90 IROC-Zs will only have Z28. If you have a 1988-90 Camaro with the Z28 RPO code, you have an IROC-Z. That's not the case in years '85-'87 though.
