I have 2 yellow bookends
This is the first Formula 350 for sale I have seen in a while... I see quite a few GTAs There is actually one in AZ that is on ebay now... If the GTA had the original seats it would help.

Actually... I seem to like Red, yellow and blue Firebirds
Yellow - 87 - LB9/A4/CC1
Yellow - 87 - LB9/M5
Yellow - 87 - LB9/M5/CC1
Red - 89 Formula 350 Convertible
Red - 83 Trans Am (more for parts)
Red - 91 Firebird (more for parts, but I have not picked anything from it)
Maui Blue - 91 Formula (Sold it to make room for the 87 LB9/M5/CC1)
Blue Met - 87 Formula 350 (Sold it to make room for the 89 convertible)
So really I could go several different directions...

Price feels high right now, but gut feeling is it's worth it. Too bad it's a dealer, this type of car would be expected to be private sale.
I believe it is a private individual selling it... did not spot a dealer name... I have the owners name (which I will not release due to privacy) but he had it for sale about 4-5 years ago in the low 30,000 range. For what it is, being the lowest miles one I am aware of, it is really something for someone that want's to have as close to a museum piece as possible at this point... And the pictures make it look fantastic, I wish mine was that nice looking.

Actually I believe that is Envy or more accurately covetous, not Jealousy you are feeling right now my friend... There is a slight difference between each of them...
In Psychology they are each a bit different...
To Covet means you desire something that someone else has
To Envy means you do not believe the other person deserves it as much as you do.
To be Jealous means you literally fear the loss of something to someone or something else...
*it takes 3 people to be jealous, in comparison Envy and covet, you only need 2*
However in today's lexicon we seem to use Envy and Jealousy interchangeably even though they are different.
Sorry for the tangent
Edit: I suppose if you feel that your Convertible will love that convertible more because it is prettier than you, then you could feel jealousy...

Re: 89 Formula 350 Convertible
It is.. But at the same time, it is one of those cars that
1) is more rare than the beloved 1LE (how many hundred 1LE cars are out there)
2) Is more rare than the run of the mill TTA
3) Has the 350 (same as the 1LE)
4) It is a Convertible, although technically it does not have the convertible VIN, it is the same as a Factory Camaro Convertible, so finding parts is not difficult (which is a problem for other convertible conversions like Hi-Line, Matrix 3, or several other conversions)
5) Fun factor... My convertible is probably the most fun to drive out of all of my cars. Nothing like putting the top down...
The car is red, which to some is a turn off, but for the most part the perfect color for a sporty RWD car
Most people do not think the 1LE that sold for $30+ was worth it, or the Yellow IROC that was as high as $30K+ was worth it either... it is a lot of coin, no doubt about it. BUT if you want the lowest miles one out there that I am aware of (I know of 41 of the 43 known (might be 2-5 more but I doubt it))
I personally do not have the extra funds right now, even if I did, I have one, even moreso I really do not have the room for another...
Pure and simple it is the fastest 3rd gen "convertible" you would ever find with the exception of the 2 TTA convertibles and lone Firehawk convertible...

Re: 89 Formula 350 Convertible
PMD, I will give you my best answer...
From the 37 of the 173 1987 Convertibles I have Verified, I know of 1, just 1... And it was actually made into a Tojan... There was also one LB9/A4 Formula.. I know of no other LB9/MM5 Cars in 1987...
From the 17 of the 104 1988 Convertibles I have verified, I know of 0, not a single Formula LB9/MM5... There was 1 GTA, and 1 Trans AM however with the combo.
1989, is not much better, With the introduction of the 350, there was only 9 GTA or Trans Am convertibles with the LB9, and the only one I have record of has the auto... And of the 16 known Formula LB9 convertibles I have record of 1, and it has an Auto...
So needless to say the LB9/M5 in a convertible would be ultra rare...
As for the production on the Formula 350... Let me say firstly, that 10 is wrong, dead wrong, I have verified 15... So unfortunately the letter is worthless. The actual number according to the dealer order logs is actually 43, there was one car that moved into the GTA list because 2 numbers had been transposed... 6 of those 43 have a salvage title (when I did my research 5 years ago)... 2 Had a blue top (one remains), 4 had a tan top, and only 3 remain. The remainder have a Black top.
As for the 50 number that likes to circulate around the internet on the GTA/TA 350 convertibles the number is actually 143, I know of 40...
It somewhat fluctuates as I have found errors in the data that I had to correct but right now I have not found any more uncorrected errors...
Keep in mind that of the 330 reported convertibles by ASC... 4 there is no record of, 10 all went to one place "Physician's Auto Leasing" and none of them come back with any record in the US or Europe... And my list only had 124, One other was found that was not on the list, so I am missing 5 VINS...
Hope that helps

Okfoz--- This is a dated post I am referencing above... Can you elaborate on whether you were able to ever locate additional information on the six cars above? 2 w/no information and the four with the last mileage recorded in 1989 of 10, 15, 18 and 1,104, respectively. If not, I'd be interested in those VIN#'s and doing some updated leg work..... picking up where you left off on the diligent research you have already completed. Is there a way you can share. Thank you in advance.

Keep in mind that these are ONLY Formula 350 cars: Lowest miles
1) I Have one car I never have done a report on, so miles are unknown
2) Still 10 (Reported 8/25/1989)
3) Still 18 (Reported 4/25/1989)
4) Still 1104 (reported 11/30/1989)
I have not looked lately honestly
On a side note, I have confirmed 24 of the 43 Formula 350 Convertibles.
Based on your experience, is it that these cars have been shipped outside the US or sitting in private collections and unregistered? Or something else?
I am happy to run the VINS and spend the money to see if they have surfaced anywhere recently.

I have all of the VINS now except for 4 which were not listed within the 330.
36 Base Firebird V6
56 Base FB or Formula V8 (L03)
18 Formula LB9
43 Formula 350
4 Trans Am (L03)
9 Trans Am or GTA (LB9)
158 Trans Am or GTA (L98) (Estimated 15-20 Trans Ams, the rest GTAs)
2 TTA

Yes--- I get it that this is limited to just the 350 Convertibles. I just sent you a direct e-mail note. Maybe it went to your Sp@m folder... but here is the gist:
I am a proud owner of a 1989 Firebird Formula 350 Convertible by ASC. Bright Red exterior and Black interior. If I were to share my VIN# and any other vehicle details with you via DM or e-mail, could you send me anything you have on the list of 41 or 42 other cars in this category. e.g. Spreadsheets, details by vehicle... and other interesting literature. I'm curious about how many of these cars you have identified in the list by color breakdown and any other interesting nuances. Thank you!
Hey TTOPS,
That Maui Blue 350 looks best when it is in a convertible with the Top down. Much better than the Maui Blue Coupe look in my opinion. I think I have seen White, Black, your Maui Blue and obviously Bright Red. Do you have any idea how many of EACH were produced in these specific 4 colors amongst the 43 cars with the L98? Did any of the Flame Red Metallic Formula 350's make it over to ASC for a conversion?

Re: 89 Formula 350 Convertible
I do not know of any other Maui Blue Formula 350 convertibles. Tony's car is unique as only 2 Formula 350s came with a Blue top, and the other one was reported as salvage, and no records after 1992. So his is likely the last and now only one.
What I have
1 - Maui Blue - Gray interior
4 - Red - Gray Interior
6 - Red - Black Interior
2 - Flame Red Met - Tan interior
1 - Flame Red Met - Gray Interior
4 - White - Gray Interior (1 might be black interior)
1 - White - Tan Interior
1 - White - Black interior (Maybe gray)
1 - Black - Black interior
1 - Black - Gray Interior
1 - Black (unk int color)
Note these are the confirmed cars and colors, there are 19 cars which have not been found or accounted for as of yet.
