Bandit 24 of 200 signed by Burt Reynolds

For sale at a house near one of my friends, Worth buying? Has the fiberglass hood and the map pocket signed by Burt reynolds still there. It's an 82. It's in ok shape but needs work.

I have never seen one before. I think it was made by trans am specialty services

Re: Bandit 24 of 200 signed by Burt Reynolds

Jerry Reed drove the 82' in "SATB III". Nothing special about it. Burt Reynolds had a cameo role in that one.

Unless Burt had bought one. 24 of 200 ???? Got pic's?

Oh, THAT Bandit. That's a different story. I was thinking just the run of the mill 82 Black/Gold T/A.

Thanks simo. Good read/info. I never seen one personally.

Yep that's the one. I've been reading about it, This car came with all sorts of upgrades. Fiberglass hood. Souped up 305, bunch of other stuff.

I have no idea what it's worth as I've never seen one for sale. It's a roller, guy wants 1500.

If the body & chasis is not rusted out, and the miles are decent, $1500 is a deal... rebuild the engine, trans and be good to go...

Any one notice it appears that Burt knocked off the front center cap? If you look the center cap is missing from the center of the wheel and is in free-fall behind his boot...

For $1500, even if it's in okay condition, I would think would be a smoking deal!

I'm thinking the same. I mean - what is the rarest trans-am? This was order-able at the dealership - so it's not like some guy just did them in a shop without GMs approval.

This car has got to be one of the rarest and hardest to find that exist - I see daytonas and anniversary editions all of the time. Am I wrong?

Would love to know other opinions on the collectibility of it.

I honestly have never even heard of it and definitely not seen one. It has to be extremely rare. Good luck. Would be very cool to see and restore.

Ha, I've had that picture on my computers since the late '90s and never noticed that!

Re: Bandit 24 of 200 signed by Burt Reynolds

One thing about the car that I find interesting, unlike so many cars IE the Choo Choo Customs, cars, and the ASC ZF car, they actually did performance enhancements, Much like the MSE Trans Am...

Interesting, I'd never seen the MSE, just checked it out. I saw that someone on early thirdgen sold one for 6k in 2010, that would seem to be a deal if they are rare.

Re: Bandit 24 of 200 signed by Burt Reynolds

One thing that I personally see that sets the Bandit from the MSE is from what I can tell the Bandit cars were all the same (not to be confused with the Bandit II which was a sticker package).

The MSE on the other hand you could get a ton of options even a 400 SBC and a get-kit... But I have never seen one that was loaded out like that...

Lol probably - I asked him to keep me updated on the build though I'd love to see it back to new.

Re: Bandit 24 of 200 signed by Burt Reynolds

Hi. My dad owned Bandit #99 in the late 80s and 90s. That is the one that was in the High Performance Pontiac article. We were in a Trans Am club in South Jersey where these were built. We knew, and still know other Bandit owners. I still have the glovebox signed by Burt. If you are ever in touch with the #24 owner and he wants to sell, or just find out more about these cars, let me know. I know the guy who owned #7 and he is trying to connect with current owners. Thanks.

Bandit#99 Welcome to TGO

Thanks for posting. With SO many thirdgens made over the years, it's often hard to put forth the effort to try and save every car. That being said, there are those cars out there worth saving, and worth keeping track of. The Bandit cars are a good example. ...another recent thread found the first documented California Iroc special edition with T tops. IMHO, these (while totally different) are the thirdgens worth saving and keeping track of. As a thirdgen fan since the 80s, and an owner since '91, it's been awesome to see the enthusiasm in the last few years for STOCK and survivor cars. Players Challenge cars, 1LEs, TTAs, Bandits, Autoforms, Firehawks, as well as a slew of highly optioned run of the mill cars, or uncommonly optioned cars. LOTS of 'em out there and it's great to see the interest in these cars running strong.

Welcome to TGO!
