"I am selling my 89 Firebird Formula 350 TPI motor. I am the original owner. It has 22,135 ORIGINAL MILES. I am looking for $8,000 cash or make me an offer. I would also take a straight trade or trade + cash. I am interested in trading for AWD or FWD vehicles. Pickups will be considered. You can call me between 8am and 8pm anytime. The car is at my house in Firestone Park. NO TEXT MESSAGES WILL BE READ OR REPLIED. CALLS OR EMAILS ONLY"
Hm, ad says fair condition, paint and rear spoiler in particular look faded, and there's no interior, engine, or underside pix. And it's located in a state that's notorious for rust. I'm willing to bet she needs some work, and is not in the condition one would expect for a car with 22K...

Thats what I am thinking. Even though it is pictured outside, maybe its one of those low milers that hasnt been driven (or started) for years. Maybe he pushed it out of the garage or something.
I am half tempted to call just for info, but I really cant buy it, so why waste his time. Just being sensitive I guess, because when my car was for sale, this happened alot (aka tire kickers).

Naa. Original owner from Ohio didn't drive it in the winter if it only has 22k miles. But I agree something is wrong with this car. I'm not buying it but it would still be interesting to find out what the issue is.

My thoughts exactly. Upon inspection, its really not all the hard to tell if original miles seems credible. But when things are painted, new tires, new belts, brakes, exhaust, etc. then it can be debated. No question a car with original everything except battery is so easier to validate, but a one owner car means no registration history & if there are no service records documenting & backing up the mileage, then its all about the condition & what a 22K mile should look like regardless of the year. just my opinion of course.....
It always amazes me the lack of good pictures with all these cars.
Back in my day selling a car meant print advertising that required money. You had to take the time to get it right.
These days, 3 minutes and a cell phone is all that's required to post a free ad. Although the bait may not be appealing, it might be good enough to get lucky and make contact with a buyer. These overpriced cars aren't really for sale, people are just fishing for a sucker in the laziest, sloppiest manner possible. Low probability of reward for minimal effort, so why not?
