1:8 Scale Camaro into Knight Rider!
So a long time ago, Monogram made a 1:8 scale 1982 Camaro Z28 plastic model. The model is almost 2 feet long...
This guy custom made pieces, fenders, hood, nose, PMD seats, Dash, etc... to convert that model into a Knight Rider replica...
I think he did an amazing job...

It is definitely Amazing... I only found one flaw, that differentiates a Camaro fro ma Firebird... it is very subtle, but I will not share unless you beg...

I know work had to be done for the tail lights, cuz the Camaro's wrap around and no rear side marker lights...
The shoulder below the b pillar is not as pronounced as on the Firebird...

While that door panel did come on Trans AMs without the luxury trim option, that door panel is not right for KITT. Which is odd because, as you noted, there was a lot done to make everything else correct.
But that's not what John is talking about.

Oh fun, a guessing game...
The subtle difference I think I see is in the rear quarter panels. A Firebird's fender flares blend softly into the body, whereas a Camaro's a sharply defined. It appears KITT's custom front fenders have softened flares, but that the guy might've left the model kit's rear quarters as-is.
I had that model kit back in the '80s. I painted it black and silver to match the '82 and '83 Z28s I had. My parents found the car in the attic back in 2000, when they were moving out of the house I grew-up in. I told them to toss it; it's gone.

The only thing that really looks "odd" is the size of the tires, but that is understandable if that is what came with the kit...
