Whatever was wrong with the original interior, ripped, faded, etc., I'd rather have it like that.

If the original interior was red, it looks like it might be a relatively easy fix... cloth seat swaps, armests and door panels, right? I'd rather deal with that then some of the other stuff you find on thirdgens. And just think, it could be far worse (4th gen interior swap! ).

True, it can be fixed. But not for a $13K starting bid.

I messaged the seller asking what happened to the original interior and he said he bought it like that from the previous owner..

With only 63,000 miles it shouldn't have needed a new interior.

Nice car otherwise and easily fixed.

Re: A Pretty '89 IROC-Z Let Down By It's Horridly Redone Interior

I would easily take original paint (if its still on their) & live with the interior, then search for a replacement. But it could possibly take forever to find a nice one. My guess is, its been painted based on the interior swap, but thats just a complete guess. Not much of a description listed. In fact, no description at all...

The interior is easy enough to fix... I would rather that than it need a repaint or engine rebuild... Heck something like that would take a weekend after you got the new seat covers and door panels at most...

I agree. No oil pressure & rods knocking preferred over a deteriorating body.

Anybody know why there is no description, or is my browser not loading it correctly? Just tried it on a work PC & nothing shows up either.

No description when I pull it up either.

Seller has zero feedback but been a member since 2009.

I don't see how it's that much worse than the ugly factory camaro interior.

Re: A Pretty '89 IROC-Z Let Down By It's Horridly Redone Interior

For starters, a Factory interior may be ugly, but at least it is how it was originally... Most people do not want a custom interior that appears to be half thought out. Either make it all red, or all Black, or make it more attractive than what is there... Someone had an idea and really did not know how to execute it.... On top of that they used what appears to be cheap materials... Whether or not they are, is another question, but it does not look like a top end job (based solely on the material)

If you come across that factory interior, where it's in mint condition and unfaded, ie., it's red and not pink, it truly looks spectacular.

Not something I would have ordered in the day, but nice to see now. That "custom" interior redo ruins the whole car for me, and if I owned it, I'd change it back to factory or as near as I could get it, on the first day I owned it.

Re: A Pretty '89 IROC-Z Let Down By It's Horridly Redone Interior

Looks like only the black fabric is new. The original tweed-like material looks pink from a distance (red/white) so maybe a previous owner simply didn't like it. If that's the case, the '90-'92 fabric would have been a much better choice.

You are right, that is what it appears they did... They took the seats and just stitched new material on, instead of matching it Red, they just used Black to contrast it... Would have been better in a gray or silver Personally.

I don't think it's that bad? Considering what you see some teens do to their cars...

Weakest link of restorations on these cars - no interior fabric anywhere to be found.

I tried SMS, got nowhere.

If you can't restore the interior, what can you really do with the car? Plastics can be had piece by piece, but the fabric? You're out of luck, unless oddly enough you have Siegler seats, that fabric is around here and there.

This is a big concern for me... I've seen reproduction cloth for the sports seats, but none for the base seats. For those with factory leather, it's easy to replicate.
