History / OriginalityGot a question about 1982-1992 Camaro or Firebird history? Have a question about original parts, options, RPO codes, when something was available, or how to document your car? Those questions, answers, and much more!

Very nice example.
This is a pretty rare car with 270 HP
On a serious note, axle tubes do not appear to have been painted, has aluminum driveshaft. Was the black stuff on the rockers put on by ASC? to prevent rust after welding in rocker supports for the convertible? Prolly dumb question as do not know much about the convertibles.
10bolts were not painted, heavy cars and performance cars got the aluminum shaft.
ASC did put the undercoating/rustproofing there where they riveted on the extra rocker panel reenforcements.
I have two completely original paint thirdgen cars (one Norwood, one Van Nuys); neither look anything like that.
Also look at the hood vents where the mesh screens are...
I've never seen 2 of these cars have a (factory) paint job that looks the same.
Some have hardly any orange peel and some have a lot. Its crazy how that peel look goes away the older they get and the more its washed.
A lot of the pictures were taken with a potato type camera so the quality just sucks.
Very odd but I just got 1 picture from the guy, he didn't have any better pic to share. Very grumpy guy too. (I think he used the worlds 1st camera phone to take pix)
Interesting news from him, he says the only thing that has been painted is the windshield hoop due to scratches when windshield was replaced. Didn't say why it was replaced?
Looks like no red paint on the black plastic around the pass mirror in this pic tho.
Without way better pictures than what we have, we'll never ever know100%.

Re: Nice '91 TA Convertible
Just looking at it I thought to myself, looks like a repaint... The Crispness of the lines get slightly washed out after a repaint on these cars. The hard crease lines in the hood get slightly rounded. There is so little paint from the factory that it is redic redic ridiculous.
