I am the second owner (for thelast 16 years) of an unrestored ’92 Z/28 convertible with a 5 speed stick withtons of paper work including the original window sticker &build sheet. It is optioned the gray leather interior, original CD playerradio, and nearly completely stock except for the flow master muffler and othersmall changes.

The car is in fantastic shape giventhat it is a “high mile car” at about 150k. I have never been afraid to drivemy car so I guess I would classify it more so as a “survivor” given that it isstill quite nice, but also well driven. I always felt more than confidentputting it up against restored 3rd gens atshows.

Anyway, I already know that the 92 Zvert is a semi rare car at only 1200 or so units that year. However, myquestion is does anyone happen to know how many of those 92 Z convertibleswere 5 speeds? Is there any way to find that out? Also, my car is a VERY lateserial number (….68396 out of 70007 that year). I figure my car could actuallybe the LAST 5-speed 92 Z convertible. Is there any way I could prove that? Isthat even significant in your opinion?

I know it’s not a Firebird Fire hawk,and nor is it the “the Last Third Gen”, but figured those facts may help in apossible future sale if values for these cars continue to rise.

Nice configuration - 5 speed convertible. I don't think production numbers are available on option combinations. You could guess that approximately 8% of these cars were equipped with a manual transmission, so yes, you are into the rare category in my book even without the proof.

 

Might be. No one will care though. I love thirdgen Camaros more than any other model on the planet, and even I wouldn't care. What I WOULD care about is a 1992 Z28 Convertible 5-speed. That's a sweet car you have, man, don't worry about if it's the last.

 

His question has more to do with, could his car be the last or one of the last Camaro Z28's with the 5 speed... More than is it rare.

With that said, The White Book shows 3,816 Camaro Convertibles in 1992, the data I show has only 3,464... so about 352 cars are not listed.

It gives you a ballpark however.

Do you know the build date? Send me your full VIN in a PM and I can check with Compnine. I thought I guessed your VIN correctly but Compnine doesn't show it. So it's either wrong or one of the few that Compnine doesn't have, as John states.

I remember years ago someone going through the VIN's of the 1992's and they had picked out what the last Firebird was, we know what the last Z28 was... There was the last Formula 350 too IIRC... But my memory sucks, and it gets jumbled by dreams.
