History / Originality Got a question about 1982-1992 Camaro or Firebird history? Have a question about original parts, options, RPO codes, when something was available, or how to document your car? Those questions, answers, and much more!

I know this one won't get a lot of love, but I think it's cool.

Unmolested base cars are so rare to find nowadays.

I'm starting to appreciate them more as time goes by. When they were plentiful I thought they were a waste if they didn't at least have a v8. I didn't even like an RS. Now I think an Iron Duke would be fine. I go days without seeing a 3rd gen on the road at all. Hardly ever see one sitting either.

Pretty clean for a 1982 car. I would ****** it up. But I'm no where near IL.

Love the combo of original steel sport wheels, trim rings and whitewalls.

IIRC they came with either whitewalls or blackwalls.

Very cool! Reminds me of my old 82 base Bird in many ways. HT, manual windows/locks, no A/C, and sagging headliner. lol The base coupes are very hard to sell though, we will see how this one does. Not very many buyers are looking for this type of car.

I love it, but I'd be tempted to make it a sleeper. A nice built LSx/T56 and upgrade the suspension, but keep the stock ride height, widen the original wheels and put fat whitewall tires out back, and a quiet muffler.

Okay but.....you'd have paint the LSx corporate blue, block, heads valve covers, everything.

If this car had t-tops I would be bidding until the end of the auction. Its exactly what Im looking for minus the t-tops!

Re: I know this one won't get a lot of love, but I think it's cool.

I like it... But man that interior is WHACK! The plastics are chalky, and the carpet looks faded. I guess it's Maroon, but it looks brown in some spots.

The aftermarket cruise has got to go. Along with the white walls. The Camaro Rally's are at least 14x7" wheels, but I'd have to dumpster them just like the set off my 83 that I couldn't give away in the 10 years after I took them off the car.

Always chuckled at the 1982 specific dash labels - "LIGHTS", gee thanks Capt. Obvious.

I'd mostly leave the outside alone, but the self restraint would end there. The best of the best stock parts from a later FE2 car, mild small block, and it'd be awesome.

I agree with KMK454 - Perfect for an LS swap IMO. But leave the car looking stock.

Too many V-8 conversions. I would keep it a 6 cylinder but transplant a Turbo Buick 3.8 into it.

Correct, that's the vacuum servo. You can see the add-on additional stalk for the control in photo 4 of the auction, clipped above the turn signal stalk.

Love the car.

Good inspiration for mine, since my '86 came with, and still wears, an '82-'84 nose. I'd prefer this one, its a hardtop, mines a dang t-top.

Since everyone here is talking about sport coupes. Now is a good time to mention that there are a few sport coupes in the nomination thread that havent had a second nomination for COTM. Please go second someones nomination or nominate a car you like. They need help over there!
