87 GTA - Cargo Screen Option & 350 TPI

I recently got a Pontiac Product manual for 1987 since I have 2 87's and browsing thru I found a line stating that you could not order the roll out cargo screen WITH the 350 tpi/auto combo. Does anyone else have any information on this topic?

I am curious because I have an 87 GTA with the 350 tpi (and 8 in the vin) and also has the roll out cargo screen. I do not yet have the build sheet from GM and the SPID is gone so I am not sure if it has been added to the car.

I know its not a pontiac but I have an '87 Iroc with the 350 TPI and cagro screen. Cant see a reason why the engine choice would delete that option.

There were plenty of strange restrictions on options. It had something to do with weight and CAFE regulations.

I didnt know in 87 they had those issues similar to the early 90's with air bags and such. Would be interesting to know if Pontiac made this restriction but Chev did not. Keep us up to date on this once you get your build sheet

Re: 87 GTA - Cargo Screen Option & 350 TPI

It had to do with weight & MPG, you can blame the EPA!. Same thing goes for T-tops, and the subwoofer option on the GTA, Trans Am with the L98 in 1987.

You could get a T-top, 350, subwoofer, and Shade in a GTA in 1989 IF you bought it in Canada However, so they are out there. I have actually seen one or two with the paddle mirrors, which would be ultra unusual.
