Is this a real CA Iroc
Do you guys think this is a real CA IROC. I thought those cars did not have a rear spoiler.

Here's an article I found on the California IROC.

Re: Is this a real CA Iroc
The car does have 2 small specific details that indicate it could be a 1C5 IROC. The dash emblem says Tuned Port Injection instead of IROC under the Z28 which the 1C5 IROCs used instead of the traditional dash emblem that other IROCs had saying IROC. It also doesn't have the Tuned Port Injection emblem on the left rear bumper as other IROCs in 1985 did when equipped with that engine. Both of these items could easily be changed so that doesn't prove much. It gets down to the RPOs that are listed to verify it being genuine.

Re: Is this a real CA Iroc
The addition of spoiler (option or not) kind of ruins the whole idea of a California IROC for Me on this car.. That and the Chrome wheels... would look better with the factory brushed aluminum wheels, and no spoiler.
The regular IROC, I would prefer the spoiler, but not in this case for some reason.
The Emblem does say "Tuned Port Fuel Injection" like yo soy el warg mentions, and I am not sure how common of a part that would be...

Re: Is this a real CA Iroc
In 1985 if you ordered the TPI engine in a Z28 your dash emblem would say Z28 with Tuned Port Injection under it. If you ordered the IROC option, along with the TPI engine, then it would only say IROC under the Z28. There were many Z28 ordered with the TPI engine and no IROC package thus having different emblems. The 1C5 California IROC being the exception to this and all having the TPI engine and IROC options they didn't want to show the fact that it was an IROC even on the dash emblem.

Re: Is this a real CA Iroc
Ah... Makes sense... The Iroc got "IROC-Z", and the Z28 got "Tuned Port Injection" unless it was a Calif IROC which would have the "Tuned Port Injection"

Re: Is this a real CA Iroc
Are you saying the SPID has 1C5 for the California IROC and the RPO D80 for a rear spoiler? You couldn't order these cars with the specific options that you want as you could on other IROCs that year. If it does have D80 for the rear spoiler on the RPO list it would be the only one I have ever seen or heard about.

Re: Is this a real CA Iroc
Email the owner of the car for the picture he will send it to ya. He texted it to me but I have since deleted it.
I comfirmed it for myself that it had the correct rpo codes for the cali Iroc and the spoiler.

Re: Is this a real CA Iroc
Its a true 1C5 California IROC, but the spoiler was installed by the dealership before the original owner bought the car. They always thought it was factory. There are more details on this other thread.
What is the RPO code Z5V on my 1985 1C5 IROC? (

Re: Is this a real CA Iroc
So i'm guessing this is the car Hot wheels based its 1985 Iroc-Z on ??
Re: Is this a real CA Iroc
Yes it is the one Hot Wheels based the 1985 IROC on. I also have 2 of these IROCs and a couple of hundred other dream cars that Hot Wheels makes that I couldn't resist buying. It still isn't a 1C5 Cali IROCZ since those weren't fancy enough, lacking louvers, spoilers, stripes, chrome wheels, etc. to make into a toy car that most of us kids would buy. Still really love Hot Wheels cars.
