5.0 GT vs IROC For real
5.0 GT vs IROC For real
Like i've said in many of my other posts I was stupid for a day and bought a Mustang. A 1991 Mustang GT to be exact. My friend owns a 1990 IROC-Z with the L98. I am an all GM guy so whooping on Mustangs was the norm. The oly reason I bought it is because I like the way they sounded with Flomaster's. Anyway to the point. He always wanted to race me but I wanted to wait until I got everything done to my car.
The outcome: He handed me my a$$
Here are the cars:
1990 IROC
L98 700R4
Mods:
K&N Filters
Air foil
SLP Cat-Back
MSD Ignition accesories
Cat delete
Dunlop SP5000 tires
1991 Mustang GT
5.0 5-Speed
K&N Filter
High flow H-pipe
Flowmaster cat-back
Motorsport Ignition
BF Goodrich G-Force T/A KDWS
We raced 5 times We switched cars 2 of the times. At the track he was running 14.12 and I was running 14.6

What were your 60's? What do you intend to do with the mustang? If you want to make it quicker, I suggest you give it a complete tuneup and do all of the free mods. I'm ran a 14.2 @ 98mph with my K&N + glasspack mufflers 89 5.0. However, it was an LX. You should be a bit heavier, but that would put you no worse than a 14.4. If you were really determined, you could get into the 13s without spending more than a hundred bucks.
Even with the way you run now, you could drop in a set of 3.73 gears and hand him him his *** .
Good luck with the car. I think if you ever get interested in going fast, you'll be glad that you picked fox-body mustang.

Geesh, everyone, take it easy, 12sMustang was just giving advice. He didn't bash Camaros did he, or did I miss something. At least he brings some other info to the board.

Shoot, I much prefer the higher-pitched V8 (kind of like a 6 in the same way the mustang was kind of like a 4) of my dad's Z06 to that mustang's sound, however deep it may be.

Geez guys, grow up a little.
There's nothing wrong with ford guys on this site. Its good to have a different opinion. At least they're not riceburners!

Yeah, give Mustangs a break. The Mustang guys on here, including Nic, Mustang5L5, 89mustang, and myself are non-biased towards cars. At some times we tell truths, and sometimes, our truths hurt. We also express opinions as well, which is fine...But don't go off and say stupid crap like...

Come on, was that really an educated statement? Really.
If you can't listen to opinions, then maybe you shouldn't come to this site. Nuff said. We have very nice people at this board, and flaming people for preferences isn't cool.

1MeanZ and 87irocz350 you obviously haven't been here long enough to realize there are a handful of non-fbody guys here on the board and they're cooler than a lot of the other closed minded ****** on here. You also obviously haven't realized that by commenting like that people are not going to cheer for you, you're just acting immature and stupid.
BTW sounds like you need some gear Cody, cause you've definately got the potential to be much faster.

whoa. Slow down. I never talked trash, I'm definately biased in favor of mustangs with reference to pony cars, but in no way was I disrespectful. I see there are many here with maturity, and I'm sorry that you can't relate your love of cars to the owners of non-chevy sports cars. Now, I would like you to take a look at another of my threads, the one, in fact, that brought me here from a link on a mustang site. Then, tell me again where I was trash talking. Yes, I do favor mustangs, but I am not loyal to their owners. I simply like having conversations with car enthusiasts. Anyway, here's the link: https://www.thirdgen.org/messgboard/...ML/005530.html

ok boys, i apologize for the comment, it was childish but i get tired of comments like "if you really get interested in goin fast, you will be glad you got a fox body" comments like that **** me off. i really do appreciate you mustang boys bein here, there is no reason we cant get along, i mean we all want the same thing here. i just get tired of hearing comments like that on our site. talk trash all you want about camaros and firebirds on your 'stang sites. but please respect us and not diss us on our own site. i am sure there aer idiots wiht f-bodys that to talk trash on stang sites too. so in closing, i respect mustangs alot and i do like a few ot them, and i would take a stang over a japaneese import anyday. (sorry guys i really have a soft spot for german imports such as VW and BMW
)
) Ok, I understand why that might **** you off. I know damn good and well the performance potential of the chevy 350 in all its various forms. I've been smoked my fair share of times
. Anyway, I'm sure that you all know the aftermarket on teh 5.0 is huge. I wasn't trying to be derogatory towards F-bodies, just showing my loyalty to the 5.0.

Once again I Agree with 1meanZ.
As I said at one time I was pretty close to getting and stang but didnt.
But I dont think they should talk on a Chevy\Pontiac site.
I dont go to ford sites and start talkin about my car. But If you have a Camaro\Firebird I would like to hear about it.
