1986 L/S Interior
I own an original 78,000, 1986 IROC Z28 Camaro with option Code AF9, L/S cloth Bucket seats.
I am told this is a very rare option, can any one tel how rare this is and would this increase the value of my unrestored IROC?

Chazman, please share any Information, that you have on the (L/S) Leer Sigler Interior, option AF9 that you might have.
Production numbers and added value of this option to a stock 1986 IROC Z28.
Thanks

Get yourself a tall drink and go through this thread. You've got something there. I'm not sure if I've ever seen them on an '86.

Impressive. First photos I’ve ever seen of seat still in the car. Other than sales brochure. Some people will be willing to pay more for it compared to a non-Conteur 1986. I hope you are able to preserve the car.

Wow!
Other than the '86 brochure, and a seat that John in RI posted pictures of, that's the only other I've yet to see.

Damn seeing these pics makes me kick my self for not buying the local $1500 car that had these seats.
Yes its rare and yes to someone seeking out our rare options that’s as good as it gets for 86. Should help with desire ability and some value

Uhhh....I didn't even know these existed, and it's a damn shame that they weren't more popular. The lumbar controls look to be identical to those of the Corvette for that year, and the lower cushions look really similar as well.
According to the Camaro White Book, this was a $650 option only available on 1986 Z28s, and just 184 were built with it. I guess that explains why I've never seen them, but still really sucks since I'd love to have a set in my car. I've had inflatable lumbar Ultima seats in every T/A I've owned, and always though lesser of Camaros since I (up until now) always assumed that you could never get inflatable lumbar seats in them.
As far as value, it's probably not going to add that much. Maybe 10-15% to the right person. Not many people care about lumbar seats unfortunately. But if I were considering other cars in a similar price range, those seats would seal the deal for me on your car, provided that it didn't have other major issues like rust or title problems.

Another Unicorn !!!!!
The one I got was inside an 86 coupe & I'm pretty sure it was original to the car. (no RPOs - console pad was already gone.) I found it online maybe 20 years ago from a junkyard (in Jersey ? ) and had it shipped here to RI. I held it for years but then sold it to a local (RI) Thirdgen guy and he had it re-covered in the "CAMARO" log (spectrum?) cloth (Tan fabric of 85 Vintage). Don't remember exactly how much I got for it - but $400 sounds about right. Until yesterday when I saw your pics it was the only one I had ever verified to exist ------> I've been a Thirdgen owner 92' and an enthusiast since the eighties.
VERY Nice TSKIROC,.... Very nice indeed !

This is original, as I know the first owner and have known the car since it was new off the show room floor. Also I have the hand written sales order written by the salesman and a copy of the build sheet, in addition to the RPO on the console.
Many people have accused me of pulling the seat out of a Corvette.
I am thinking that I should take the car to the Camaro Nationals in Frederick Maryland, in June this year to see what type of reactions it gets.

Re: 1986 L/S Interior
It’s a cool option, but it’s not going to double the value of the car.

Now that I have confirmed that it is rare and original, I am going to talk to by insurer and up the coverage a little. As for selling it I get that idea every year, but can’t bring myself to put the for sale sign in the window.

Re: 1986 L/S Interior
I was mainly interested in the value for insurance coverage. Currently I have 10k agreed value.

It really depends on the condition of the rest of the car. Is it worth more to people like us because it's so rare? Sure. How much more is hard to quantify. I would say a little more, not exponentially more.
