History / OriginalityGot a question about 1982-1992 Camaro or Firebird history? Have a question about original parts, options, RPO codes, when something was available, or how to document your car? Those questions, answers, and much more!
Ugly just like the 4th gens. I remember the article. My dad must have got ten different magazines each month. Thing of the past now and I miss getting them in the mailbox.
I definitely prefer third gens.. but I’d take one of these 4th gens.. They were really fun to drive with the 6 speed Hurst and I love the SLP exhaust sound.. Those base Z28s were boring and was never a huge fan of the T/A that had the three spoke wheels..
Yes the 93-97 Z28s are better to look at than the 98-02s, but I'm with u, id take one with a 6spd if the right deal came along. Very strong runners. I liked the 4th gen birds.
That concept car eventually made it to the Chicago auto show and remember my dad filling out a comment card about it’s styling. I thought it was super cool at the time especially since most of the cars in the 80’s were shaped like boxes.

The LS 4th gen birds were probably the best 90s Cars

I had one of the coolest 4th gens on the planet IMO. I should have never sold it.
1999 Hugger Orange SS Convertible
1 of only 18 built with white leather and white top.

I have a 99 SS Hugger Orange Vert, with white top and white leather in my shop! I believe it has about 850 miles on it. Small world to have two here in Iowa, if only 18 were produced.

HOLY CRAP! I've only seen one other one and it was a 6 speed car for sale in Texas about 10 years ago! Awesome!!!!
I had called SLP when I had that car back in 2004, and they gave me the build number, etc. They were the ones that gave me the 18 built that color combo. I sold that car to a guy in Wisconsin, and he drives it all the time. I talk to him every now and then, and I think it has like 165k miles on it now..
I would love love love to see yours sometime!!! Does yours have stripes? Auto, or 6 speed?

No stripes, since they were after market. It is an auto. I ordered it at Karl Chevrolet.
The 1964 Banshee is for sale.. so looks like it pretty much became the C-3.. So did John DeLorean design the C-3? Hmmm
Looks like they did build the Banshee and it was a driveable car. Basically they say it turned into the fourth gen Firebird. I’d hope it would be in some kind of museum..
I ordered it with chrome wheels, but SLP was out of them, so they shipped it with silver wheels and sent the chrome ones a few weeks later. I still have both sets of wheels.

Re: 89 IROC Concept Car
My Dad would say, "Looks like another upside down bath tub..."
Here is the Buick Wildcat, I have seen this car in person, it has been at the Sloan Museum, and it was at St Ignace car show one year
The Oldsmobile Aerotech, I have seen this car in person as well, it was at a Lansing Oldsmobile show about 10 years ago. My Company made the original canopy for this and the other Aerotech. There are actually 2 of them, one with the long tail and one with a short tail. The Short tail was at the Olds show.
The Pontiac Banchee, I saw this car at Cars & Concepts back in the 90's and then a friend of mine, his brother is an engineer at GM, and I actually sat in this car... It is almost impossible to get in and out of, the steering wheel is so close to the chair, and it does not adjust.
Cadillac Voyage, Never seen this car in person, but also my company made the glass for it as well. Interestingly Tom Monaghan, who owned the Detroit tigers in the 1980's and founded Domino's Pizza wanted to buy it from GM, I do not think that happened however.
Another Cadillac, this one is called the Solitaire, again, never seen in person, but my company made the glass for it
