History / OriginalityGot a question about 1982-1992 Camaro or Firebird history? Have a question about original parts, options, RPO codes, when something was available, or how to document your car? Those questions, answers, and much more!
So I've mentioned a few times that I'd like a 5 speed survivor to maybe not quite daily drive, but to ....."often drive" LOL. Wouldn't mind investing some time and attention into "saving" a car, but I'll admit this TA caught my eye. The 80's era two tone TA's don't seem overly popular but man I love 'em. I'd rather pay a little less green equity, and add a little more sweat equity, but man I really dig this car. LB9 5 speed sounds nice!!!
Another excellent example. Formy this time. ...and it's another TPI car too. ...and honestly I have some good memories of a bone stock TBI 5 speed car being fun to drive, but given the choice, the TPI is the clear winner. https://www.facebook.com/marketplace...Anull%7D%22%7D
Not a lot of info on this one, and crappy pic, BUT....if you were seriously interested, it'd certainly be worth doing some digging. SOUNDS like it could be a really nice car. Kinda sounds more like just a lazy seller than someone trying to scam. Can you tell I've been looking at Pontiacs??? https://www.facebook.com/marketplace...c-6fb2fc767e9e
Literally zero 5 speed 3rd gens in my area it’s been like this for years now.
Same in South Florida. Unless one prefers a Camaro (no offense).
I admit I overpaid somewhat (about a grand too much) for my 86 TA 5-speed but I got what I wanted and it was 5 miles away. Looks ok, runs ok (better with the freshly rebuilt Q-Jet) and shifts ok.
Not many options out there, especially a Bird.

This is a good looking car. And I enjoyed my L03/5-speed/3.08:1 geared RS. Keep your expectations in line, and they are enjoyable.

To this day I maintain that the most fun car that I have driven, with at least a fair amount of seat time, was an old 68 Camaro RS 4 speed/327. Not much power, and suspension that handled far worse than my 14 crew cab Silverado. Boy was that car ever fun though!!! ...it's part of the reason so many people love the Turbo 4 cylinder Camaros and Mustangs. Better, no. Fun to daily...yes.
Probably the most enjoyable Thirdgen I ever drove while not the fastest.. 83 Z28 5.0 H.O. 5spd 3.73 geared car. Loved the sound of that 4bbl and man that car was peppy and fun to pull through the gears. I will have a 5 spd Thirdgen at some point and It will be a driver. I enjoy my car but driving it once or twice a month is not enough and I really want three pedals
I really enjoyed my 91 RS with 5.0 tbi 5 speed and ttops. Was my every day driver for 7 years and 100k miles. No issues at all except basic maintenance.

Mine had a strange issue with wearing out the right rear tire...Goodyear Eagle GAs. I talked to the dealer about it, but he seemed unsympathetic.

Now this is a rare bird, so-to-speak. Low production, low mileage, excellent condition, more than fair price. A lot of lesser 3rdgens have been selling at auctions for more than the seller is asking for this one.
Ad is gone already. The seller might not have known what he had, or he just wanted it gone and priced it to sell. A buyer apparently knew. I'd have paid that.
Then I'd have contacted the seller of the teal 92 Z28 in the next post of this thread, below the TA, and above my post. It's in Warminster, PA, home of Fiber Concepts, maker of the ISMA Firebird hood, and I'd have tried to coordinate his sale with my purchase/pick up for one of those hoods for the 85 TA HO lol.
If his buyer were to come from the western US, then he could drive a truck and "bring a trailer" to pick up both, my hood and his Z28. "It... could... work!"
I still search locally for any 91-92 5 speed firebirds but around here they never pop up heck not even 6 cylinders. Good luck trying to Find any 91-92 factory 5 speed car they have all been bought up ans put away or unfortunately crushed.
This one is kind of crazy. '89 IROC, LB9, 5 speed, 15" wheels, repaint and 131,000. Already up to $17,000 on BaT. I'm speechless. This was a $5,000 car 2 years ago.

Below is one of the comments after the car sold.....YIKES...Someone paid at least double what it was worth, at least in my opinion...."I would call this the buy of the week, 24, 25, 26 K car"
Note in several places they state "14,000 miles shown." No real claim of that low mileage as fact. But sure a decent car and the bidding is get up there pretty quick. As said above that BAT is a good place to sell seems like.
