So who bought this Firehawk?
https://www.legendarymotorcar.com/inventory/1991-pontiac-firebird-firehawk-1581.aspx

This car's been for sale here in Ontario for a while now, and it looks like someone finally bought it. I believe the price was around $100K, but I don't remember exactly. Anyone have any information as to who bought it?

Re: So who bought this Firehawk?
I'm hearing it went west (USA). It's been sold for quite awhile now.
Re: So who bought this Firehawk?
I'm surprised they didn't put it in a demo derby, considering how badly they ignored the car in that episode.
Would have to think it went to someone who appreciates it more than the bonehead kid on TV.

Re: So who bought this Firehawk?
There's an episode about it?? I've never actually seen the show so I didn't know. I wonder what the new owners plans are with it if he's apparently some dizzy kid
Re: So who bought this Firehawk?
No, not really. The episode goes like this... Guy comes in, says he wants to trade several cars (the Firehawk, and I think a GNX, etc) for one other car he wants. Klutt's kid is so excited about one of the cars, he makes a comment like "I really don't know or care about the Firehawk, but oh that Viper!" and the Firehawk only shows up in the background of a few scenes for the rest of the episode and he basically dismisses it like it's a TBI RS with 4 flat tires. It's not even worth tracking down on Youtube unless you want to see an ignorant teenager babble about some boring cookie cutter **** while a one of a kind car is barely in the background.

Re: So who bought this Firehawk?
There used to be one of those in Owensboro, KY several years ago around 1999-2002ish.. We used to see it a lot. I often wonder to this day, where it went. Could it be this one? Who knows, but it was identical to that one. I think about that car all of the time and have asked around the cruise-ins over the years, but no one knew or knows who owned it. Some recalled seeing it once or twice, but that's about it. You'd just see it driving around every once in a while. I haven't seen it since about 2002 or so. I have a picture of it somewhere taken with a Minolta 35mm.lol I need to go through my boxes of pictures and see if I can find it one of these days.

Re: So who bought this Firehawk?
This car has been a 20 minute drive away from me for a while and I've never made the drive to go see it. Kinda bummed that it's sold now, not because I could afford to bring it home, but because I'd love to actually see one in person. I'm hoping that it stays fairly local and maybe comes out to a car show this summer. Could you imagine rolling in to a typical Saturday night geriatric car show and there's a real Firehawk sitting there?? I'd lose my mind. Someone brought a real GNX to one in a Canadian Tire a bunch of years ago and it's still the only real one I've ever seen. The owner had a kick out of watching a 10 year old kid rocket past the Ferrari's just to drool over his big floppy Buick

Come on down to the Trans Am Nationals in Dayton the end of August. There have been several there over the years, I want to think #1, #26, and one or two others... Tony might bring #28 if we are lucky.

I had a friend of ex's nephew buy one brand new. He took me for a ride in it. I swear it was green but it has been so long ago I could be mistaken

Bruce's car is easily my favourite. I love the red, but fast cars are always red, so I love the thought of people getting their doors blown off by a car that some people might mistake as a 90's Grand Prix.

Only seen 2 of these cars in person: there was one at the ThirdGen National Gathering in OKC in '99, and then I saw the one that Jim Mattison owned at the Nats in Dayton, OH. Whatever the color, they're damn sharp!

Re: So who bought this Firehawk?
...and a rich bastich also. As much as I love the Firehawk, I can name about 37 cars I'd buy before I spent that kind of money. Only way I'll ever own one is if I get crazy lucky and find one cheap where someone doesn't know what it is (highly unlikely), left to me in a will (pretty sure there's zero chance there), win it in a divorce (could happen, but doubtful), or rebuild a completely destroyed one, but to go out and spend that kind of coin for a well maintained one that I really cant enjoy or drive? Nope, not going to happen. Fun to look at though. I'd love to have the only green one. That would truly be cool.
Re: So who bought this Firehawk?
I used to own that car and by the end of this year, I'll be in a position to buy it back. I'm deciding to buy that (which I wouldn't drive and have to trailer to shows) or buy a 57 Vette to replace the 56 I sold. I'm leaning more towards the 57 just because I can drive the hell out of it.

Re: So who bought this Firehawk?
When I had it she had 1,250 miles. We did new fuel injectors and a custom dyno tune since SLP's totally sucked. I still only drive it about 25 miles tho. The rubber nubs on the original tires were still just barely there.
I'm really happy with my 69 pro-touring Firebird since doing the Tremec Magnum swap and my 92 GTA scratches my 3rd gen itch for driving.

And that's why I built what I did... The itch to drive a real 92 hawk a bit more than that would be to great even for this former young guy..

Imagine having a "factory" manual third gen, and when some vegetable asks you "is it a 350??" you can actually say yes, instead of giving a pissed off explanation as to why it's a 305

^ That'd be awesome, seeing the specs of the Firehawk was the inspiration for my GTA. Wish I had the funds to add this Firehawk to my collection, it really is the ultimate thirdgen.

Re: So who bought this Firehawk?
see here’s my issue with an auto especially an 80-early 90’s they flat out suck no fun to drive and takes away any type of performance feel, I’ve own both and I will never buy an automatic performance car from that era again.
now with a 5 spd manual whether it be a third gen or even a lil ol integra, civic si etc it feels sporty and fun to drive.
now if we’re talking about current performance that’s a whole different story they make so much power now it doesn’t even matter much but in the 80’s and 90’s it mattered.

Re: So who bought this Firehawk?
Eh... It's pretty much a wash to me. 305s are the suck, the T5 is a liability, a 350 is at least a 350, and a 700R4 isn't a bad auto trans. It all depends on your perspective, there's no right/wrong answer. Some people will prefer the 5spd, some will prefer the better engine. It's trivial.

Thank god I live in the year 2020 where we can easily have both a non-anemic 350 and a manual transmission that will hold the power. You poor folks posting from 1990 have my condolences.

The 350 auto is great to drive around with your arm out the window, holding your favorite late, swapping cassette tapes or just keeping your hair out of your face. For the fun of driving, it is more of an experience to row gears. Pretty much everything today is faster than a stock 350 or 305 TPI car. That's not why you drive them. And really 305, 350 ... who cares. Keep them on the road. If you want to go fast, LS swap ... (I think my superram just popped a bolt when I typed that).
