IROC-Z prototype with 4 wheel steering....
Does anyone know anything about this car? I remember reading a magazine article about it years and years ago that was showing off old prototype cars in a GM warehouse. They had an LT1 powered Bonneville SSEi with rear wheel drive, and all kinds of other crazy stuff. I think the IROC was an 85, and was blue. It had a little dial on the center console that would control the rear steering. It seems like the rear wheels didn't turn a whole lot, but they made it sound like it cornered like an absolute animal. I haven't seen or heard anything about that car since. Just wondering if anyone has any info or pics? I'm hoping it wasn't a car that ended up in the crusher...

I've searched everywhere and can't find anything about it. It seems like the pics I saw were black and white....but the car appeared to be blue, if that makes any sense. I'm not positive on the year, but I am sure it was an 85-87.

I've got a photo or two of it somewhere, in an article on some of the cars in GM's "Toy Box". There wasn't much about the car in the story, just a blurb.

I have the article somewhere. But I haven't scanned it yet.
But if you want to read about the 4.3L Turbo Camaro I have that one.

In part the technology learned from that was probably implemented, in part into the quadrasteer pickups about 25 years later... Of course the 300ZX also had the 4 wheel steer.

I remember those articles and have them in my binder.. The rear steer was offered in pickups for a bit but was cancelled due to poor sales.
Wasn't that camaro built when Jon Moss was still at GM ? Pretty much a big block camaro version of the firehawk.

Some Honda Preludes, Nissan Skylines, 300ZX's, and there are probably more. The Nissan HICAS system was used starting in 86. It is commonly deleted.
