1990 IROC 5.7 - 3,834 miles
1990 IROC 5.7 - 3,834 miles
Followed the board for a long time...hoping someone can point me in the right direction. I recently purchased my father-in-law's 1990 IROC that he bought new for his wife. She drove it occasionally for a few years and then it sat. It has 3,834 original miles on it....that is not a typo. I've tried to buy this car for 10+ years...it needs some paint corrections from sitting uncovered in their garage for so long. I'm currently putting a new fuel tank & pump in it (hasn't ran since 2007). Will likely put new tires on it as well just to be safe, new fluids, etc.
My question is, how many were built with the 5.7 in 1990? I've done some VIN number research but it hasn't told me a lot. Any help would be appreciated, here is the VIN number: 1G1FP2382LL112975
I'm excited to get it back on the road and take it to some shows...it truly is a time capsule. I had a beat up '85 with a 305 in it when I was 16...so needless to say I've drooled over this car for almost 25 years since I met my wife! I have a new '24 ZL1 that is a lot of fun...but there's just something about the 3rd gen that will always have a special place in my heart! I think I'd sell the new one before this IROC...

I would do the same. Leave them on the wheels and keep them as show pieces. Install new tires on reconditioned used wheels or new repop wheels.
