What is with this: Camaro RS option Z4F

OK, what is the deal with the 1982 Camaro RS option Z4F. I just read about it, and it was a propsal made by GM back in 82', and it had a modified L98, that was increased to 300hp, a really nice suspension package, a 6-speed manual out of the corvette, a limited production of 602 (Same number as the Z28's in 1967), and a $28,000 price tag. It was proposed, but never made, except like 2 production samples. This car might have changed the whole line of 3rd gens, but it was never made. Tell me what ya'll think. BTW, Gm said they didn't make it because they thought noone would buy it.

Yeah, I just scanned an article on the '92 Collectors Edition Z28 last weekend. It was out of Hot Rod magazine. I'll put it up on my website when I revamp it within the next couple of months.
I think I know what ya'll are talking about with the 1992 RS special edition, but this one was DEFINENTLY in 1982. I am looking at the magazine right now. It is in the Summer 2001 edition of "Camaro Performers" and it is on page 37-38. It ran 13.5's when they ran it, and it had 245/50ZR16 Goodyears on diamond spoke wheels. They also mention something about a Police-spec B4C Rs with a L98, but I don't know what effect, or importance it has to do with this.

Sounds to me like the magazine got the year wrong. It was definately a 1992 ralley sport that GM wanted to market. But the cost of the vehicle was, in GM's mind, prohibative. They didn't think any one would buy it. I think they should have built it.

It is a 1992 RS B4C. I have that magazine too...somewhere. It was a B4C car with option code Z4F. There were two prototypes made, one of which still belongs to GM. It was white, red heritage stripes, cross-lace wheels, 91/92 GFX (don't know if you noticed that on the pic), 6-speed 'vette tranny, L98 engine making 300 hp, better seats, and some more goodies.
The name of the article is "Best camaro Never Made" I think. It was supposed to be the "real" hertage package...but it costs nearly 30k so people just settled for the vinal stripes that were put on by the dealer and it was never made.
