Re: tan interior plastics needed
i have the light tan 1983 color, not brown. my camera flash card is acting retarded it keeps not intializing then claiming its not formatted,, its pissing me off bad hmm..
i just located the pass side lower dash panel acrossways mounted one molding number 10017421
light sandy beige tan, no where near any brown color at all.
also have just located the below steering column lower dash panel, it has the fresh air vent pull cable cut outs in it and is molding 10017419
the early color like youre talking about, most the ppl here dont know about the 82 83 84 colors being different from other years. they think the early third gens were same as 85-up for some reason. only a very select few of us have early parts. 95% of everyone else has 85-up stuff and has no clue on color changes, even shades,
the car was an 83 bird, i also had an 84 bird years ago that the other one of these would be from. i have never had or parted anything 85 up tan
i have pics somewhere but i cant find them now on my photobucket etc, hummmmm
have hundreds so they got lost in the mess
this is difficult to do, gonna take some time due to technical difficulties etc.
but i probably have a few of what you need, im sure,
i need a new xD flash pic card hum....
ill just keep trying to locate the pieces and get them together to try and get pics hmmm

Re: tan interior plastics needed
OK, I got out my GM Parts and Illustration Catalog. From 82-84, the color is Medium Doeskin(64), 85 is Light Saddle(62), 86-87 is either Lt Saddle (62) or Med Beechwood (66), 88-91 only has Med Beechwood (66), and 92 has Med Beige (549).
You can find the interior color of your car on the Service Parts Identification sticker inside the Firebird center console lid.

The number followed by and "I" as indicated will be your color

Re: tan interior plastics needed
it might be. I think the original (at least one of em, not sure if they were dead matches from hero car to hero car) was a med tan, the camel is a _bit_ darker.
However, I think I also remember seeing the stock footage of the cowboy boot on the clearly "corvette" brake pedal in that show too.. (which also turned up in Miami Vice, RipTide, and half a dozen other shows).. so....

Yes, 89 is definitely too dark. The '83 that Randy offered is probably exactly what you're looking for, if he can get a whole set together.

Re: tan interior plastics needed
Every car used on the show was a 1982 Trans Am, Black with Med Doeskin interior, even the stunt cars, all the way through their 4th season in 1986. There was a train wreck carrying a load of 1982 Firebirds and they couldn't be sold, even though they weren't damaged, so GM offered them up and most made it to Knight Rider and others went to Dukes of Hazzard, if I'm not mistaken (YES, I KNOW the General Lee was a Charger! They were used as other stunt cars on the show).

Re: tan interior plastics needed
I have a complete set of tan plastics from a 1982 TA. My fear is the drivers side section alone is so big that the shipping alone likely will be all you are willing to spend, which doesn't work for me.

Or if you are within a reasonable driving distance, you could do a pickup and forget the shipping altogether.

Where do you live? The weight wont be an issue really, but the size will be a pain. That drivers side section is about as big as a quarter panel.
Re: tan interior plastics needed
That is a bit far to pick up as you are about 12 hours away. My family is all in that area. I may be planning a trip home this fall. But I am not 100% on that.

Re: tan interior plastics needed
You should visit a UPS store and see what they'd charge to box up and ship to Long Island. It might be worth it to KITT23.
Just a suggestion.

Re: tan interior plastics needed
I've got some early Tan interior panels - but not a whole set. I'm pretty sure I've still got a Tan 82-84 locking hatch cover and rear trim apanel as well as other pieces here and there. The 2 pieces that I am sure I do not have are the 2 that cover the rear speakers ( long one on drivers side and shorter one on pass side. )
If you need to find a piece or 2 to complete your set along the way just let me know.
P.S. Post up your ZIP code too !

Re: tan interior plastics needed
Actually, those are called the Sail Panels, and if KITT23 wants your parts, he can recover his own Sail Panels with fabric from Hawks...the same used for the headliner.

I'm talking about the Plastic interior trim panels,..... The ones the cover the body around the speakers. ( Not the fabric Speaker ( panels ) The longest plastic panel is on the drivers side and the other side is 2 parts, the pass rear speaker panel and the spare tire panel.
I do not have those 2 pieces,.... I have most others in 82-84 Tan.

Re: tan interior plastics needed
Ray - It's very important to know the year car the pieces are from, as after 84 they became darker. So, only 82-84 pieces can be used.
John - OK, I understand now. Maybe Ray has these pieces for KITT23. We just have to determine a year on his pieces.

Re: tan interior plastics needed
And thank YOU for looking. Let us know if you come across an 82-84.
BTW, I need front speaker grills for my 84 Firebird, AND rubber gas and brake pedal pads. I don't like the "new" GM pads that they sell, as they don't look original. Also, my brake pedal has "Disc Brakes" molded into the rubber and the new ones don't. So I'd rather have used, original pads.
Thanks!
