Upper Console /w Clock
Looking for a upper console with clock in great shape (IE no cracks or major scratches and will clean up well). Going in 84 Z28 with both power windows and hatch but i'll cut in holes for switches if I need to. I need pigtail as well. PM or email lordmess00@yahoo.com with pictures and what you want for it shipped to MA (01527). Willing to drive out to pick it up if within striking distance.

Re: Upper Console /w Clock
You can use any console top - my 1992 car has the hole for the clock adjustment **** inside the console lid as well as having the underside scored for placement of the clock. A hole saw will take car of the clock hole (I put a cup holder there myself). And all the console tops are scored for the switches as well.
I just wanted to tell you, so you weren't limiting yourself looking for a complete top with a clock. Can sometimes find just the clocks on ebay, and can be installed in any console top.
I have one installed in my 1992, but like I said I wanted a cup-holder - so I mounted my clock in a Radio Shack project box mounted under the center A/C vents:

Anyway - good luck on the search.

Re: Upper Console /w Clock
Thanks Mess for the post I was looking for and thank you Camaronewbie for the response.
Coincidentally, I picked up a full console w/clock installed yesterday w/o the power window options. I was actually wondering what to do since my car is still in storage and I wasn't able to view the underneath of my existing console. Now I have more options.
Actually, now that I'm thinking about it, although I have the full wiring harness attached to the new console (from an 85 Z28), will there be existing wiring somewhere in my 87 Iroc to attach it, or, will I have to do some finagling?

Re: Upper Console /w Clock
You have 3 wires to hook up from my research. Power and ground are easy just need a test light to figure those out. The third is illumination which you can steal from your shifter if you have an auto as far as I know. I found directions somewhere in the forums if you wanna do a quick search.
I want to upgrade my car to the clock when I put the interior back in it. I am still looking for this part if someone can help me out.

Re: Upper Console /w Clock
All 82-85 camaros had the clock harness regardless if it came with the clock or not.It was eliminated for the 86 and up camaros.I installed console clocks in my 86 iroc and 89 iroc vert.I spliced mine into the radio wiring.Orange for constant power,Black for ground and Grey for illumination.

Re: Upper Console /w Clock
Thanks for the extra info! Motor in car is an 85 305 TPI so I actually already have pigtail because I swapped the whole harness when I did engine swap. Ill settle for a nice upper console if someone has one? Car has power windows and hatch. There is a good clock on ebay right now. Anyone have any experience cutting hole for clock? I imagine the right sized hole saw would do the trick?

Re: Upper Console /w Clock
My son and I found one in a salvage yard and bought it even though we didn't need it (We have a 90 vert). We thought it was unusual to find. Its not in great shape but you're welcom to it if you want to give it some TLC. Email me (Leeatstuartpagecompany.com) if you want some picks. It would be nice for someone to have it that wants it as it will just sit around in our garage with all the other stuff we buy that we "might" want later.....Ha!

Re: Upper Console /w Clock
I started re-installing my center console today and need to wire up the clock.
I saw that my82roc said to use the orange, black and gray wires. However, my dilemna is that there are two orange wires. I'm going to try to trace and match the orange wire that is attached to the thickest connector shown (which was attached to the bottom of the clock) which I assume will be the correct wire.
My question is regarding the brown&white striped wire attached to the small connector and also, the remaining orange and (2) brown wires. Just leave them as is? Thanks in advance.

Re: Upper Console /w Clock
You only need to attach the 3 wires that run from the clock connector itself.Peel back the tape and Ill bet those other wires go to nothing. That small connector looks like 1 side of the wire that attaches to the power hatch release switch

Re: Upper Console /w Clock
My82Iroc; thank you very much for your install instructions. I used only the main harness and after removing the extra taped wires, I was able to use them as extension pieces to reach under the console to the radio harness. One more question for you. Now that everything works perfect, before I install the clock completely, is there a cleaning or maintenance suggestion you have for me? Oil anything etc? Thanks in advance!
