WTB 82-84 Firebird dash pad
I need a dash pad for my 1982 Trans Am. I would prefer the second style from 84 with the rounded speaker grilles. It has to be in great shape. No cracks, dents, etc. This is the dash pad that has the 3 lines on the face.

Re: WTB 82-84 Firebird dash pad
Dave - those 82 dash pads are the worst. My original is in great shape, but still has cracks by the speaker grilles. It was just a bad design. That's why I am hoping to find the second design with the rounded off corners.
Let me know if you come across one.

Is this the dash pad you are looking for. I just got it in today and have not had a chance to get the adhesive off of it yet but it will clean up nice.

Re: WTB 82-84 Firebird dash pad
I finally got the stuff off. It was like welded to the surface. Using the edge of a putty knife and a dremel with nylon brush. The spot is barely noticeable. Unfortunately the goo bee gone (because of the petroleum distilates) has faded the color some. Even Armorall does not seem to being it back after drying. I may have to dye it back to black. Any suggestions?

Re: WTB 82-84 Firebird dash pad
Is the grain still there where you got the adhesive off?
If the grain is still OK, and the plastic is still intact, I would buy it as is. I could dye it myself

Re: WTB 82-84 Firebird dash pad
The grain is somewhat smooth from the what ever adhesive being in the tiny grooves. But what bothers me is the color not being perfect. I'm going to try a couple other products first. Will post more this afternoon.

Sometimes, You just gotta whip out that old black majic! This stuff works!
Pad looks really good now! There is a very small soft spot on the pad that I just turned over and did a little refilling with foam.

I have to be honest with you. You did a nice job taking off the glue, but considering how delicate these dashes are, I am concerned the area might be weak now. It looks a bit noticeable too. I don't want to stop you from selling it, because you should definitely be able to sell it, but I think I am going to wait to see if i can find another one.

Re: WTB 82-84 Firebird dash pad
Just ran across this post. I have a dashpad out of my '84 Firebird S/E. It was in mint shape when I pulled it out last fall. I will check for it and let you know what I find.

Re: WTB 82-84 Firebird dash pad
Parcel Post would be about $23 and Priority would be about $31. Please understand that with a big part like this I can only send you an EXACT shipping quote once it's packaged so accurate measurements can be made. ( I used 60x19x5 & 15 pounds. )
I'll try to get some pics and send an update ASAP.

Re: WTB 82-84 Firebird dash pad
That is the first design of the 82-84 dash pads. It is the one I have in my car now. The problem with those is that the edges of the speaker and defrost openings are very squared off. This makes them susceptible to cracking. The dash pad in my car is in great shape. The only problem with it is a few small cracks in the corners of the speaker openings. That is the reason I am looking for another pad, and preferably the 1984 dash pad which had rounded corners like the later dash pads. I am being very picky with what I buy, because mine looks good now, and someone would never notice the cracks unless I pointed them out. But I know that in a few years those cracks are going to get worse. So I have some time to find a really nice replacement.

Re: WTB 82-84 Firebird dash pad
I have a MINT dash pad from a 1984 Firebird/Transam.
That means there are no scratches, cracks, stains or left over glue ... even in the screw holes.
This is just black ... it was pulled from a donor car 8 years ago and lovingly kept with semi-annual application of Mothers.
AND it has the grooves at the front.

BUT ... I'm in Canada ... I will drive to Windsor (Canada side of Detroit) or Niagara Falls (Ontario side) to meet you ... but in this condition, there's no way I'm sending it by carrier.

I'm having a tough time uploading, so pm me for pics.
