Steering column wanted
I've bought three columns, and every one of them has had something wrong with it. I'm getting tired, but I figure I'll give it another shot
I need a tilt column for my 89. I have VATS bypassed, so a column from a late 80's would probably work, or even an airbag column.
Oh yeah, manual transmission columns please.

89 is a one year only column and you will need to find one from that year. the other year columns will bolt in place but the wiring is totally different and your signals, cruise, high beams will not work.

Re: Steering column wanted
well I've heard that the 90-92 columns will work if I ignore the air bag wiring, but yeah, after buying three columns, I'd rather have an 89.
BTW, one of the columns I bought was supposed to be out of an 89, but it wasn't. I was misled

Re: Steering column wanted
the 90-92 column is wired for a speed density motor, not a MAF system and the 89 is the only year that has both MAF, a 9th injector and VATS. the column wiring must all match up for the system to work. you need to find an honest seller that actually has an 89 only column and knows what they are talking about. right now i'm out of 89 columns, but i know when i have one it sells for 175.00 to 200.00 and columns from all the other years sell for 100.00 to 125.00.

Re: Steering column wanted
I've got 1 89 column,... from an 80K mileage Formula AUTO - so there's no locking lever near the ignition cylinder. I've also got the VATS box that was in that same car, but there appears to be a resisitor already in place.
I check all my other columns and none of them are 84-88 for manual cars. ( all are for automatics. )
