Upholstery Prices
Anyone able to give me a ballpark for what it might cost to have a set of 4th gen power lumbar leather seats recovered in black cloth? I have a set that I would like to put in my Formula, which has a black interior.
Thanks a lot.
Thanks a lot.
If i was you i would look around and find one of those seat cover kits that hawks or any other third gen dealer may have. Its really not too hard at all and plus you get to say you did it all by yourself. I havent really looked into fourth gen kits but I have seen them and there similarly priced around the 3rd gen kits. I got the Hampton vinyl for the Iroc and they cost just about 400 for all four seats. (and that was buying from an overpriced fbodymotorsports) Trust me, this is a much cheaper way then having it done by a professional, most quotes for me where from anywhere from 800-1500! But of course if you want an original custom seat theres really no other way to go. Good Luck

How long did it take you to do all of your seats? Did you remove the old material, or install the new covers over them?
After getting all the seats out and stripping the old red leather off I painted the seat brackets b/c they had a little surface rust on them. I then put a little more foam in different places around the drivers seat b/c it was obviously the most worn down one. I also went ahead and painted the side seat plastics. After you get the hang of putting the seats together its really actually pretty simple. After I was done and finished with my seats and other random stuff I had prob spent a grand total of 6-8 hours on evrything. But there is a bonus to doing seats....you can bring them into the nice air conditioned house and not have to do it outside. If you do plan on doing this just PM me and ill try to think of anymore tips I learned so you wont make the same mistakes.

Thanks for the info and offer of help, man, I appreciate it.
If you lived close by, I'd offer to keep a stream of ice cold beer coming your way if you'd help me tackle the project.

I do upholstery. $600 for the front two seats is about average if not n the low ballpark, this does not include the back seats. A lot depends on the material that you pick out to have the seats redone. Why are you going from leather to fabric? Usually it is visa versa. The premade covers are a viable option. If you do not think that you have the ability to change the covers, the cost at a upholstery shop should be minimal.
