Removing rear seats
To avoid digging up an old thread, here's a reference: https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/inte...elete-box.html
What I'd like to do is build a box to replace my rear seats. Ideally, I would like to separate it into two pieces for easy removal. The top would be hinged(maybe with a spring to hold it up?) with a locking mechanism. The box would then be used for extra storage(ie, tools). Does anyone have some examples of their work, if they've done it? How about dimensions, to make things easier on me?

I've got mine out, and since my carpet was all hacked up underneath, I laid down some black carpet I picked up at Walmart for $3.77/yd. So now there's just carpet back there, but I'd like to build a storage box.

Yeah, those are neat, but I'd rather have storage than just empty space. My car is a daily driver, and since I live in Phoenix, I can run yearround with the tops down--which end up in the hatch. The well in the back doesn't hold much, and it's difficult to get to when you need in there, since the t-tops are laying over it. A box in the backseat that blends with everything would look great, imo.

very true and that is the main reason that i made my own beacause the new amde ones are nice but they are pricey as hell. it took a few ours. mine has a door in it and 2 6.5in sony xplodes. then i went to home depot and picked up like 3 yards of indoor outdoor. i put that in and put a chevy symbol sprayed black and running the opposite way from the grain. and i have projector leds on it. ill have pix up soon hopefully.
