Gauge Cluster Lights

Hi guys, I took apart the dash of my '91 camaro to replace the instrument panel lights and have now created 2 problems.

1. Broke the head light switch/****, had to order another one (used)

2. Tried to replace the lights, but the new bulbs did not work, I think I might have damaged the metal connection on the twist base.

So, I have to get the lights with the bases attached, but as of now, the car does not should off the initial beep when you start it...it just keeps beeping. The speedo, battery, oil gauge all work, just no lights and the beeping.

My questions:

1. Am I in trouble? Should I just scrap this project and give it to a mechanic?

2. If the answer to #1 is no, then what should I do? How do I attach the light switch back on? Is the repair manual any help? Not sure if I should buy it.

Thanks,

BTW: My car is in mint condition and I really don't want to mess it up, I hope I haven't already.

I hate working on gauge clusters, it was a pain getting my 145mph gauge cluster to work properly on my 1991 RS I had to remove the odometer and it's frame, the 2 small torx bolts, I HAD TO USE A DRILL!!! to get them out, since I did not have the proper size, so I just bolted it on with some other screw... Also BEWARE and prepare fora pain in the *** if you remove the TEMP or FUEL needle, you will never get it precise again after removing it!!!! My fuel gauge needle is probably 1/2 off it's original reading... sucks anus!!

I went to the parts store and bought new bases for the bulbs. And then I used 5 bulb LEDs that are made to fit 194 sockets.

If you had the manual you wouldn't have broken your headlight switch, so I recommend getting one of some sort. I got a factory service manual, it's excellent, much better than the Haynes.
