Can't get rid of a squeak!
My '89 GTA has a squeak that I can't get rid of. I know it's in the trunk area on the passenger side, but I can't find exactly where it's coming from. I tried tightening the plastic screws on the all the removable panels in the trunk because it sounded like they were rubbing together, but despite my attempts, the squeak is still there. Any ideas or suggestions on how to find and get rid of it would be extremley helpful.

I had a squeek after changing my shocks, got worse over a few weeks, after checking everything on the inside and out i found out it was the shocks, tightened the nuts on the inside on both shocks and the squeek went away. its worth a try and only takes a few minutes

as "onemanarmy stated, not trying to be a smart ***, but"
These cars squeak all over. If you fix that squeak there will be another and another and another. Good luck
From what I've "heard" SFC help allot with the rigidity of theses cars, which helps elements the factors that contribute to squeaks.
One thing I "know" works to eliminate squeaks, is a great stereo.

On Camaro's, (at least on my vert, probably the same on yours) this is where the spare tire is. Could it be something in there? Maybe loosen and retighten the spare wheel, jack, etc.
PS; try owning a vert! I could spend years looking for all my squeeks and rattles!

Might be the hatch. Does it fit nicely? I didn't think so. These hatchs tend to do this. You have to replace the hinges or redrill one of the hinges mounting hole a little higher. Try pushing down on the hatch's corner where it meets the corner of the taillamps. Could be the source of the squeaks.

Try dropping your back seat and see if it goes away. If so, it's the latch on the seat causing it. At least thats what it is on mine.

As above - spare or hatch. Remove and reinstall spare tire and parts. Mine squeaked and it was the rubber tire against the metal body - I stuck an old t-shirt around my tire and remounted it - stops the squeak and I always have a rag in the car when changing a tire.
On the hatch - try opening the hatch, and adjusting outwards the little ruber bumpers - they screw in/out - maybe a turn on each will tighten the close and stop a squeak.
