That looks like an Autozone type cup holder, or any auto store.

Well my guess is they either expoxied it on there or used some type of fastener, there is nothing for it to clip on in that location.

Too high, that thing would bounce & shake as you drive down the road.As high as that is.I can imagine what a mess it would be if a drink fell off.The closer to the floor the better.

This is an idea I've tossed around on installing cupholders in my '83.The underdash pullout dual cupholder from the '88-'94 C/K pickups appear that they would fit the dash contour, with a few mods, next the radio/HVAC pod on the passenger side. And i think they are still available in colors other than blacck.Opinions on this please. To me it would be better than the door mounted factory cupholders for the F-body.

That look slightly better that the 1st pic.Just monut it securely to the underside.Cant/should'nt wobble, shake, move etc, once installed.Classic used to sell this glove box kit.that installed on your pass side dash.so you had a glove box in the traditional place like the cars from years ago(& later).Too bad no one makes a cup holder similar.just pop open the lid.fold down & place your drink.I still like my door cup holders(GTA) though.

I've seen pictures of the glovebox kit(there was even one on Ebay a couple months back).I have the factory door cupholders that I could mount but cutting holes in my '83 camel colored door panels is not an idea I relish. They would be more convienent than the C/K cupholder, plus they have the small map pockets, but they would fall in an inconvenient place in getting out the car(I'm 6'4 and hesitant thinking I'd hit them getting out of her).

I like mine! I don't think the truck fold out would easily work. There is a notch to deal with_ look close at your pic- and it mounts at a very steep angle. I pu 1 in my 91c1500 a few years back and it was great..,. in my truck, never thought twice about it for my maro.

The cupholders from the first picture are from a Jeep cherokee. Its an aftermarket cupholder that fit over the parking brake.

cup holder

I decided to make a cup holder in the center console that will hold a large dring and is deep enough to even keep cans inside. You can see this on my cardomain site. http://www.cardomain.com/ride/2483817 After making one for my car I made one for my friends car also. I even redid mine today and now I have a extra console with a cup holder installed.

Seems to me there is a tech article on how to make dual cup holders that go where the ash tray is in third gens. Looked pretty simple and also looked good. 'Course you have to be a non-smoker.

the only downside to that is that it may be very uncomfortable with your arm there and a drink in it. I know we all rest our arm on the console and hold the shifter. Now throw in a supersize drink there and see how it feels. No one has a pic of those factory cupholders or something that go on the door panel

I rigged up a single cup holder in my console just in front of the arm rest. I bought an after market cup holder from Crappy Tire.
I took it apart, cut the hole in the console with the same diameter as the body of the cup holder. It has a rim around the top that is maybe a 1/16 of an inch bigger then the body of the cup holder. I slide it into the hole, put the bottom back on it and put a bead of epoxy around the underside of the console to hold it in.
It holds a large coffee and doesn't interfere with rowing gears.
If anyone wants..I'll snap a pic of it tomorrow.

I used a large hard plastic Pepsi cup like the ones at resturants. I have several of them. After making mine my friend asked me to make one for his car so I did. I painted and cleared it to match his car. I have a spare one that I made if your interested. I'll attempt to attach a picture. I can paint and clear it too if needed. Also reference to getting in the way while resting or shifting, Ive never had any problems nor has my friend. Of course I don't lean all the way like I see some do. But even if I did it still won't get in the way, That is why I made it deep.

Here is mine. Ignore the dirt..I've been to busy driving it to clean it!
ETA..this was my first attempt and I used a dremel tool to cut the hole. I have a second console and plan on doing it again and making a cleaner job of it. If it wasn't such a bitch to get the console out...
