split rear seat to one peice
hey guys, i have an 89 trans am w/the split back rear seats and am purchasing a set of seats that are the one peice back from a 95 camaro.. what will i need to do to make this work??
Alot of people just shove the one piece over the little bar that goes under the rear spilts with no problem
Youll see exactly what little bar I mean when you take the seat out
If you wanted to do it right Id hammer the bar out and chisel the metal thingy off too
Best of luck, and youll be very pleased with your new seats

Barely, at just the right angle. Dab some paint on it to match either the seat or carpet color and only you'll be the wiser. The bar does not interfere with the seat folding up/down either.
Otherwise, bolt in.. enjoy.

Just run a 12V and ground wire (probably should add a fuse also) and get the matching connector at a Pick your Part junk yard or change but halves to a new connector (that's what i did).

You can wire in the seat just fine the way the other guys mentioned, or if you're a stickler for details and want to do it the "right" way, the power seat wiring is supposed to run into the relay located behind the driver's side kick panel. This relay is the same one that supplies power to the windows and locks if they're power. It's also used for the power mirrors if your car has them. This relay has leads for both Bat. power and Ign. power, so you can wire to work with the car on or off, or only when the car is running, your choice. I originally just hooked my power seat up to the fuseboard, but I scrounged up the correct wiring at the junkyard later on and hooked it up to the relay like the factory did. I hooked it up to Bat. power so I can adjust the seat whether the car is running or not. The power locks use the same Bat. lead.

thanks pat, yea i put the seat in yesterday and used one of those 'add a circuit' things and hooked it up into the fuse box.. i also grounded the seat by running the ground to one of the bolts for the seats. i will eventually hook it up the correct way, but for now it works great. thanks again guys

why would i regret cutting the bar for the split seats out? i plan on keeping these new leather seats forever and selling the old grey cloth seats..

That's exactly how I hooked mine up too originally. It'll work just fine like that.
