Dah pad or Dash cap?

My dash has a couple big cracks in it like most I guess. My problem is to buy the dash on e-bay (100.00 and up) or a dash cap (99.00) dose anyone have the cap on there camaro and can post some pics. I really want to go with the whole dash but I dont like paying 100.00-150.00 fore something that I cant look at in person. Because some e-bayers can be miss leading.

keep searching the parts section of craigslist if you have one, I just picked one up in mint condition for $20 bucks, little bit dirty but with a little clean up...Wow...also check the jy's you may get lucky...

I've been checking the local junkyards for the last few years, and I finally lucked out a few weeks ago and snagged a perfect one for $40. It was really dirty, but after a careful and thourough cleaning job, it looks every bit as mint as the ones that sell on ebay for mega bucks. If you don't have the time, patience, or money to get a good, used original one, you could always get one of those dash caps, or go the mega-cheap route and get the carpet overlay. I also got one of the carpet ones at a junkyard for free.

I totally see your point. From a budget standpoint you might be better off just getting the dashcap or a carpet overlay since you never know when an original is going to develop a crack. It's a roll of the dice really. I swear by a sunshade though. I think that's the only reason mine lasted as long as it did before cracking. Even when it did crack, it was right at the base of the windsheild where the sun was still able to shine on it, even with the sunshade in it. We're probably only behind Arizona and Nevada for how many days of strong sunshine we have per year where I live.

It is not hard at all, about 4-6 2" philip head screws on the top and about 8-10 3/4" philip head screws in the base. Then you just remove the old and put in the new...
