Where to find "leather" seats..

I want to get the actual "leather" replacement seat covers, not the vinyl. Do you know where I can find the actual leather? I have searched all over but keep coming up with vinyl. I want to replace or recover my leather seats. They don't look bad, I just want them mint for next summer.

I haven't found any either, but I haven't been looking too hard. Your best bet would probably get them custom made to look like factory seats.

Look in your local phone book, and find an automotive upholstery shop. I know there are some good ones around here, and there will be some in your area too.

Yeah Steve, but it is good pleather. I have seen the inside. One panel I haveis vinyl and it did not last one year while the pleather is going on 15 years. Is there a web site for this Katskin covers?
----------
I did that and he was trying to find leather too. Custom made will be around $800. I just figured there is at least one company that has the factory pattern.

Re: Where to find "leather" seats..

Just got mine from Leatherseats.com. Same quality as Katskins. Got 100% leather, two-tone pattern, and custom modifications to the rear seat pattern for about $1500.

That also included a leather shift boot, 12 yards of the main color in vinyl and 6 yards vinyl of the insert color. Extra vinyl was used to wrap all the plastic pieces of the seat and the rest of the interior. No shots in the car as I'm still putting vinyl on the rest of the plastic.

Flash makes the vinyl, side panels, and leather look different colors. Trust me it all matches in person.

GTA seats...not sure if T/A could opt for them. Power side bolsters on them. Thats why it looks like an accordian.

Re: Where to find "leather" seats..

I ran accross this site a few months ago which appears to offer leather seat covers including custom logos: http://www.mrmikes.com/3rdgen3rdgenseats.htm

I haven't investigated feedback on quality...

Re: Where to find "leather" seats..

Nope! The above are 4th gen seats. But.... The seats they replaced were 92 "GTA" style seats that had the ET headrests. AFAIK, all third gen leather TA seats used the same ET headrest. The 4th gen in 93 started the above style headrest. In 97 they changed again to a flat style.

They all look exactly the same, and I purchased the covers hoping to use them on my original seats. Unfortunately looking the same and going together the same are two different things. There's minor differences on every part.

And also, while called 'GTA' seats, any TA with leather would get the same seats. Here's a picture of my stock 92 Trans-Am, with "GTA" seats and the third-gen headrest:

shr00m is right. Those are 4th gen seats. From the headrests down they look a LOT like GTA seats, but 4th gen "GTA" seats had different headrests. As well was the wiring, side controls, etc.

I just went through trying to fit some in my GTA, but the head rests are as easily swappable as I had hoped.

Re: Where to find "leather" seats..

If you replace manual with power there is a plug under the carpet of the drivers side. Just reach though the slit in the carpet, pull the plug through and viola...you got power.

Re: Where to find "leather" seats..

I am in Australia. I own a 1991 Trans Am Convertible. My car came equipped with leather upholstery and I want to keep it leather. My seats are now showing its age and I am replacing them soon. I have been in contact with these people and they do the seats also in leather. They sent to me swatches of the colors that I choose to match with mine. I have chosen the color that suits me and I intend to order a set of covers from them soon. The price that they quoted me is $825 front and rear shipped free in the continental U.S. What do you guys think of this company? http://www.ezsofttops.com/p-1695-fir...al-velour.aspx

G'day mate, I'd love to get a look at these if you go this way since I want to recover my GTA seats too. Mine aren't leather, but that's what I want to cover them in.

Is this supposed to read :

I just went through trying to fit some in my GTA, AND the head rests are as easily swappable as I had hoped.

-OR-

I just went through trying to fit some in my GTA, but the head rests are NOT as easily swappable as I had hoped.

I've thought about doing this myself and it would be nice to know.

Re: Where to find "leather" seats..

I have a 91 Z28 Convertible with Red leather. The drivers seat has some small cracks in it, all others are in real good condition. I would like to find some replacement leathers also, but I think only alternative is to get present one repaired.
