Racing Seats off Ebay?

Has anyone ever bought racing seats off of ebay? They look like nice seats but for $200? Sounds kinda cheap doesn't it. If someone sees something about these that I don't please tell me.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/EVO9-...spagenameZWDVW

Thanks
Andrew

Re: Racing Seats off Ebay?

I dated a guy that bought them off of ebay for his honda del sol, they are nice comfy seats! they are black and look like leather. I was thinking about buying a set myself but I'm worried about the brackets not fitting in a Camaro.

Re: Racing Seats off Ebay?

They shouldn't be too bad to mount in your camaro. The only problem I've ever had with seats was when I took out my stock bench seat in my El camino and made brackets for mounting the buckets. The seats were from an Eagle Talon and had those self closing seatbelts so I just ended up running Simpson belts. Other than that never any problems, and those seats look pretty nice.

Re: Racing Seats off Ebay?

You may be able to drill and use the same brackets that are currently in your car... but I'm guessing you don't want to start rigging stuff up to work. Otherwise the seats in your Rs are cool, i mean unless they need to be recoverd like mine!

Re: Racing Seats off Ebay?

Mine are getting beat up. At first I thought I'd be cool to custom make them by going to the store and buying fabric to use then taking of the covers, refoaming, and stitch on new covers but I don't know if that can be done

Re: Racing Seats off Ebay?

I pickup a set on ebay, paid 250 which included shipping. I have never seen leather as thick as what was on the seats. They are comfortable, very nice. I used the same tracks off the old seats. 10 min and 2 beers I was riding again.

Re: Racing Seats off Ebay?

If you use the rails on the stock seat your head will be too high. I am 5'8 and am sitting up high. Dont know about the rails that come with it. Will try to get some interior pics posted.

Re: Racing Seats off Ebay?

I got mine from ebay. They are ok for me but admittedly cheaply made. They recline and came with slider mounts. Unfortunately I had to fabricate my own mounts to adapt them to the chassis which was very time consuming. Me+welder+a small pile of scrap steel (and optional cussing)= operational seats! See the pics in my garage to the left below sig.
Congrats on an easy install!

Re: Racing Seats off Ebay?

If you look through the information about the seats, you will see that they are "pvc leather" or cheap vinyl. They will last maybe a year before they start coming apart and they are not worth repairing. I knew someone who had them and they self-destructed in a minor accident which turned it into major accident.

Re: Racing Seats off Ebay?

Although mine were a small chore to install, I think it was well worth the effort. They are made from cloth and come in a variety of colors. Everyone comments on how nice they look and the adjustability of them was a nice bonus.
The only complaint I've ever gotten about the seats was from an extremely heavy set person who claimed the seat bottom was too narrow and couldn't accomodate their butt cheeks, LOL!
For the average sized person they contour to the body pretty well.

They are made to be light-weight racing seats, so don't expect super soft padded comfort. Instead, think of them as a fully adjustable poly highback seat with a layer of padding and cloth covering to match your interior. I've ridden around for hours at a time and not encountered any dis-comfort.

At the time of purchase they were cheaper than 2 RCI seats with padded covers and slider mounts. All in all I'm happy with my decision, FWIW.

Re: Racing Seats off Ebay?

all I can say about ebay is that you get what you pay for. Now, what you can do (and cheaper) look around the junkyard for some 80's imports and you'll find some nice sporty seats. I have seats from a Mitsubishi Starrion that have adjustable lumbars, adjustable side bolsters, fully reclinable, and adjustable headrests. It was off some turbo car. I just kept the tracks from my thirdgen and bolted them on to the seats...good luck

Re: Racing Seats off Ebay?

Hey thanks for the compliments.

Here is an ebay link for the company that I bought mine from.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/79-99...mZ140148156094

I would highly recommend them. They are real comfortable and they look and feel like real leather.
