Cluster done! Pics!!

Just got done installing my new gauges last night. I am still waiting on my fuel gauge, and then maybe a tranny temp over the winter.

Re: Cluster done! Pics!!

that looks sharp! it's been a couple years since i had my stock cluster pulled out...so, did you do this swap by using the stock face plate, deleting the stock cluster (that big white box) and mounting your new gauges on the stock plate?

how complex was this job, generally speaking? my stock gauges are all shot and i need to get around to doing this same job.

Actually I kept all the stock housing so i didnt have to redo the wireing for the turn signals, ebrake light etc.
However I had to cut some peices out of the white box so I could fit the gauges in. The stock face plate only had to be ground out a bit also, basically I only had to grind the lip that is on it.

Re: Cluster done! Pics!!

Total cost? I'm still considering that myself, but the autometer gauges (in metric) don't have much selection, and are friggen expensive.
That does look really sharp, and must be quite accurate as well.

Hye guys seriously it is not hard at all!!!

The only modified holes in the trim panel were the tach and speedo, I took a stone grinder ( round stone on a air grinder) gound the trim panel with the gauges in hand so they were very snug and popped them in.

Here is how the wiring went

All of the gauges for power and lights were wired to a switched on.

Tach....signal to negative side of coil
Speedo....to the VSS on the tail stock (pos to pos....neg to neg)
Volts...pos to switched on...neg to ground
Oil.....mechanical so i ran it to the oil cooler line since my car dosent have one.
Temp....mechanical so I ran it to the driver side head...took the stock sensor out.

Very Very easy to do,,,even the regular non do it yourselfer could do it.

Re: Cluster done! Pics!!

Good lookin gauges bro. Hey think you could tell me where you got the speedometer? Mine's the factory one that goes to 85mph. Its a 305 4bbl I know it'll go a hell of a lot faster than that!

Re: Cluster done! Pics!!

How did you wire up the turn signals? do you still have them? did you tap into the stock harness or did you run all new wiring for all the gauges.

Is the Speedo still run by the cable or is it controlled electronically?

Re: Cluster done! Pics!!

All the info is in my posts, the speedo is electric, and as I said I kept the factory box, just pulled the gagues out and replaced with new ones. i ran all new wireing for the gauges and the stock, CEL, Ebrake, turn signals are still fromt he stock plug.
