Seat Cushons
Okay so my driver side bottom seat cushon has the typical huge hole and foam missing.
I went to the junkyard to try and find a drivers side seat but no luck. So can I swap the passenger side bottom to the drivers side?

Re: Seat Cushons
So am I able to take the bottom cushon off the frame and mount it to my bottom drivers side?

Re: Seat Cushons
what he's saying is the seat bolts in opposite per side...for the driver side the side open to the door has 2 bolts into the seat bottom while the side towards the center console only has one bolt. so the passenger side will be opposite...your best bet is to get that passenger side...tear is appart as neatly as possible...not rip the cover...tear yours apart and install the cusioning from the passenger side and then put the cover on...it's not going to be the most attractive thing in the world, but it wouldn't be a huge hole...you would just need to make another hole for a bolt on one side (of which the plastic cover and handle will block view of this new hole) and have a hole that no bolt goes into on the other side (of which will be hidden by the center console)

Re: Seat Cushons
Yes you can. That is exactley what I am doing now. My power seats are getting custom leather and I took to the guy doing the work an real good un used passanger seat. He is swapping everything and it looks pretty tight.

Re: Seat Cushons
don't think so...you can obviously try, but your cleanest job would be to just trade the cover and cusioning over to your driverside frame.

Re: Seat Cushons
first you need to remove the upper half of the seat from the bottom cusion, then start removing the special circle staples that hold the cover to the frame, then carefully remove the cover...alot of that cover is stitched to the padding if i remember correctly, but after that it should come apart with a little coercion.

Re: Seat Cushons
yea the bottom is one piece sewn together, and the top half of the seat is another piece, and then if you have headrests thats an entirely new piece. Think of it like putting on a t-shirt that is 2 sizes too small, thats how seats are upholstered, the fabric is one very tight piece and is held down with staples that are round and go into the bottom frame of the seat. You just need to seperate the staples and take the seat tracks off, if there are more staples under there then get them, but then you need to carefully (cause these cusions are most likely around 20 years old) and it looks like the easiest would be take it off from the back towards the front. attatched is a picture of the bottom of my driver seat (don't mind the telephone wire) but at the bottom of the picture if you can zoom in you will see the staples, that is the front of the seat at the bottom. Hope this helps.

Re: Seat Cushons
I need the same piece, bottom, and back cushion pieces. The original owner was 250 lbs, so I really am sitting on steel frame.
