B&M, Hurst, or Stock shifter

Trying to decide what shifter I should go with. A couple of my friends said I should put a T-handle on it since its an automatic transmission What should I go with B&M, Hurst, or just the stock shifter

I have the B&M Megashifter in mine. You should go with what you like. What style do you like? Some say they have had problems with B&M shifters, but I have not. The Megashifter looks real sweet in my car also.

How much higher is the B&M shifter than the stock one?

Re: B&M, Hurst, or Stock shifter

The B&M sits about the same, maybe a little lower i think. I have it, and i hate it. Notchy as all hell. Tried heaps of ways to improve it, but nuthin. Forget about tryin to get out of Park without slammin it. I would go back to stock if parts down here were easy to get. It came in the car when i bought it...
I wouldnt mind a Hurst 1/4 stick tho. Looks nice.

Re: B&M, Hurst, or Stock shifter

The left side is used as a normal shifter where you go up and down with no locking. Now the race gate works as follows: You put the shifter into the right side, Now when you put the car into first gear you push right and up for each gear and you can't overshift because of a locking mechanism for each gear. This gate allows you to rev to whatever rpm you desire before you upshift. Also good for burnouts. Line lock is next on my list.

ooh updated picture from the other side. You can see the lock outs on the right. Works very smoothly.

Re: B&M, Hurst, or Stock shifter

I recently installed a B&M Quick Silver shifter - has round handle and is ratchet action. I like the way it looks, but is very difficult to shift in and out of park/reverse; but I'm learning. It was a universal model actually sits at the same height as stock, but had to mount it to the left by 1 1/2 inches. I am in the process of fabricating a new shifter plate as the old one will not work and was broken anyway. If you want simple to install and good looking I would go with the Megashifter.

I got the hurst dual gate too. I like it but I am swapping to a th400 so I am either going to sell it or buy another Camaro. Don't see these much anymore.

Re: B&M, Hurst, or Stock shifter

so what is the benefit of having one of these shifters? to give it more of a racecar feel?

just for looks, brand loyalty and having the dual gate is cool too. doesn't add horsepower or torque or better traction or anything

Re: B&M, Hurst, or Stock shifter

In my old GTA, I had the B&M Pro stick. IMO, 10x better then the megashifter. I loved it.
