Re: dash pad precautions?

i got the pad outta my bird and my maro out and chillin in my room thats kept at ~70* all winter. Just keep them out of the way and away from animals, you should be fine. I've heard of a couple people sticking thiers under their beds to preserve them. All up to you but if your going to do that i would suggest bubble wrapping it or something. Mine i got on top of my book case one on top of another with three towels seperating eachother the entire width.

Re: dash pad precautions?

lol, i think that you are the one that gave me that idea a couple threads back, it's too bad i don't have any room. O well, book case is safe for me, noone has a reason to hit it or anything. To each his own, but just be careful when your removing it, try not to flex it at all obvioulsy, and i would suggest fully unmounting it (if you need to know all the screw locations just ask) and then have a second person on the opposite end of the car help you guide it out.

Re: dash pad precautions?

i don't think so, be sure nothing is going to bump into it or land on it. Is the attic going to be any better than the garage???

Re: dash pad precautions?

well then if it's always warm, then i'd say you may be alright, mine is insulated but it's cold, thats why i asked. Yea i would suggest ultimately laying it flat, and then i thought about bubble wrapping it and then plastic wrap it to a piece of ply wood or somthing the length of the dashpad so that if it was bumped into or leaned against a wall it would be alright, but i don't know how mcuh wood would warp, and that would just be an added risk to take. I would just wrap her up, even if it's in newspapers if you wanna save what you got, and then put it flat in your attic if you can.

Re: dash pad precautions?

i haven't, i actually armor-alled it and then whiped her down with a paper towel. I've heard this isn't good (heat wise in the summer), but i've done it in the past with no problems, but i also don't think everyone whipes thiers down with a paper towel afterwards to dull the shine to only what it needs to be. It sounds like a feasable idea about oiling it down, but i'll let someone else chime in, i don't want to be responsible if yours cracks. Like i said it does sound like a good idea, but i'd just rather someone with experience tell you it's a good idea as well.

Re: dash pad precautions?

not a prob, like i said i don't think you need to do much to them, i mean you got those people that have 3rd gens in a bubble to preserve them, they do almost nothing to them other than maintenance on the engine so, anything is possible, but good luck!
