Re: int production #'s. how rare are these???

I've only seen one set in person, and I own them. Mine are from an '83 T/A. I don't know what Pontiac called them, but they are nearly identical to the "Duel Contuer" Camaro seats that never were actually available. Only the fully adjustable driver side was available in the camaro, they were the ones that had "CAMARO, CAMARO, CAMARO" written on them. The '83 seats have the same headrest as a camaro, not the rounded ones like on those pictured.

Also, the power seat track was optional, mine are manual.
Also also, have any spare bolster *****?

Re: int production #'s. how rare are these???

The Seats are "LS Conteur" seats. The Camaro only got the drivers side due to a problem with production ( or storage ) and the Firebirds got Duel seats. I'm not sure what years they were available in the Firebirds, The 3 sets I've got were from 83-84's - Colors I've got are Black/Grey and Blue/Grey. The drivers side was placed in Camaro's from 82-85. In 86 a Limited edition Power Bolster LS Conteur seat was avalable in the Camaros - but I don't know if the Firebirds got any that year. There were just 184 power Conteur seats made in 86,....... I've got 1 of them.

I wish I could tell you how many were produced in the Firebirds - but just don't know. Since Pontiac kept pretty good records I'm willing to bet one of the members can locate those Production numbers for Ya' !

P.S. I don't have any spare ***** !

Do a search for " conteur ".

OR " L AND S AND conteur "

( Watch the spelling ! )

Like the one pictured in the '86 brochure, I assume? I didn't know any actually existed. What color is it?

Re: int production #'s. how rare are these???

About a month ago, there was a silver/charcoal '84 TA HO in my local junkyard with those exact seats in it, also in charcoal/grey upholstery. They still looked almost brand new, too. In fact, the entire car looked like it should've still been in someone's garage, rather than a junkyard.

They're definitely not Recaros, and they're not PMDs. I don't think Pontiac actually called them by a specific name like Chevrolet did. I'm pretty sure they were simply called "6-way Manually Adjustable Seats," which also came as "Power Adjustable."

By the shape of their contours, these seats look like the predecessors to the non-adjustable "deluxe" seats of the later year birds.

Pontiac called them L/S Conteurs as well. Check the following link and note the brochure pic:

Re: int production #'s. how rare are these???

My 83 Firebird SE came with those exact same seats but non-power, and even the exact same interior color scheme. Two-tone brown... what were people in the 80's thinking... The car was a decent optioned base firebird, with an LG4/700R4, power windows, and power locks.

Re: int production #'s. how rare are these???

As stated earlier, those are Lear-Siegler seats. They were an available option with the deluxe interior package in '83-'84. (B20) They were not rare, but they are hard to find now, especially in decent shape. They were available in cloth or leather. They were available on SEs, Formulas and TAs. They came on my '83 Trans-am, but were replaced by generic Recaro's by Mecham Racing.

I think another reason why these seats are rare is that they were used in Grand Nationals and that crowd is snatching them up and recovering them for their cars.

Re: int production #'s. how rare are these???

I have the manual set, the driver which is the adjustable one, they are the red and orange and have the CAMARO, CAMARO............inserts The seats are in real nice shape except for the side bolster on the drivers seat. Anyone have any ideas where I'm going to find matching material?

Oh, and if you look at the headrest..............you will see the Conteur logo......anyway on mine there is one. Also, mine doesn't look at all like the pic John in RI posted, mine has a bar across the front that you reach down between your legs to move the support up and down.
