all racing seat people need advice
i was wondering how hard it is to put in racing seats. im getting scat seats from summit and was wondering how the sliders would be installed? they line up with old holes, or do i gotta drill new? thanks your help is apprecited
Re: all racing seat people need advice
Before my racing seat endeavor I had heard much talk about how you needed to make your own brackets or adapters and it actually seemed to require some mild fabrication.
However in my own experience I simply re-drilled the stock tracks to mate up with the new seats, works like a charm, best of luck with yours.

i dont know how hard it is to take the track off the stock seats ..
maybe just a few bolts or rivets .. ive never done it ..

Just a suggestion. The first time I did a sport's street seat switch out, I lined up a buddy that had some metal fabrication knowledge. Sure enough, he know the right tools to use, kept me busy from standing around and just feeling overwhelmed, and did one little weld job to attatch an extra brace. 3 hours later we were driving down the road.
I've actually got a set of Recaro seats sitting in my garage. I'm planning of adapting them to the factory seat tracks so I can use the driver's power options.... So this is definitely one of those jobs where you need to line up a buddy to play job foreman. Will the new seats ever look so ultra cool when your done!!! Nobody will be able to make smart remarks about 'hillbilly transportation' after one of these modifications!! Best of Luck,, Nitro

Re: all racing seat people need advice
i got a good bit of metal fab / custom work ive done in the past ..
everything from making a cart for my mig welder, making a custom mount to suspend a radio in a 1985 f350 (theres a huge "empty" space behind the radio cover), and shaving door handles and mouldings off my friends pieces of rice .. i mean civics ..
actually .. i used to have a bagged toyota pickup (that i traded for my camaro, what dumba$$ that guy was) .. and i welded some extra toyota mr2 seats i have straight to the truck .. hahah ..
but if you can weld and can think of how to do something .. anything is possible .. especially when you want it perfect .. (i could care less if that toyota blew up, but that f350 radio mount was flawless
)
oh .. and try not to catch the seat on fire with the sparks if you decide to weld it .. hahaha .. just a thought ..

I had few different race seats in my third gens. I used the old brackets from the stock seats and just got steel brackets from home depot cut them and used as adapters to fit the seat. The Brackets held up great and you can virtualy use any set with the stock bracket.
