General consensous 4thgen dash wiring
Im in the middle of a interior swap into my 91Z and was wondering if ppl were completely gutting the thirdgen wiring or just splicing into it for your lights/hvac controls and running signal wires to the dash?
Im sitting here thinking it would be great to have the fuse panel from the 98 TA dash operational but it would be sooo much easier to just re-mount my 91 block....
heres where im at

Re: General consensous 4thgen dash wiring
I have a 91Z also with a 97 dash and console but I didn't go with the LT1 engine so I just cut the 91 connectors off, then soddered and heat srienked the 97 connecters in ther place. As for the fuse block, I just replaced the plastic surrounding the 91 block with the plastic off the 97 and it mounted in the 97 location. Don't know about the 98 bird block but the 91 and 97 maro blocks are the same just different mounting plastic around them.

Thats pretty much what I was planning to do. Ive gto all the wiring labeled and its ready to start splicing. should have progress this weekend....
Re: General consensous 4thgen dash wiring
I spliced in the wires. Made sure everything worked right first. Then I cut out any unused wires and shortened/lengthened the used wires. I hope thats a 97 cluster you are using, the LS1 clusters won't work with LT1's or SBC V8's.

So one of the guys in our local club is saying that the 98 LS1 clusters are still the old style and should work with the LT1....[/quote]
if that turns out to be true, let me know so i can open my search up to a 97 and 98 z28 cluster
