Cluster swap

Car: !985 Chevy Camaro
Engine: 2.8L
Transmission: T5
Cluster swap

I have a 1985 Camaro and it didnt have a stock tack. i got a gauge cluster from a scrap camaro and it has a tack i was wondering if this would be difficult to install. i'm not really sure where to start.

Axle/Gears: 3.08,3.73,3.42

did the same thing to 1986z28owners daily driver the only things you should need are new temp sender and oil sender the tack worked fine in his with no mods.

how would i wire the tack? there is no existing tack.

Welcome to TGO. FYI: 82-89 clusters have mechanical speedos and are interchangeable V8 to V8 and so on gauge to gauge, idiot light to idiot light. 90-92 have electronic speedos and aren't interchangeable with the earlier years. Check the following link for info that may be helpful when swapping idiot light to gauge:

i still dont know how to install the tack. my car had no tack, so now i need to intall my gauge cluster with a tack... i now know how to install everyting but the tack... and without that, there was really no point for my changing my gauge cl,uster, becasue thats why i went out and got a cluster with a tack. i know how to install a aftermarket tack... but this dosent look like an aftermarket one.

If there is a white wire on one of your factory plugs behind the cluster then you are already wired for tach.
