Re: power door lock problem

HA! Mine does that too. It has done it for years.

It will not unlock or lock the passenger's side door unless you hold the powerlock button down a few seconds or push it a few times. Let me know what you find out. It's annoying but has never been that annoying that I ever cared too much to do anything about it.

Re: power door lock problem

Everything works fine, except your car is old!...Mine did that when I first got it. I had to keep pushing the lock button about 3 times before it would like all the way. I thought it was my door lock actuator, but then I kept reading some posts and decided to SATURATE all the locking mechanisms in the door with WD-40 and now it works great! I lifted up the boot on the actuator soaked some WD-40 in there too. That should get them working again...good luck!

Yep. Common fix to a common problem (though cleaning the accumulated crud from the tracks etc. might be a good idea before lubbing).

Re: power door lock problem

Mine did the same thing, I sprayed all of the mechanisms with PB Blaster and now they move with no problem. They even have that new "clunk" sound now.

Re: power door lock problem

Same here. Been doing it on the passenger door for over a year now, but only got annoying after I installed the keyless entry. Spent about 30 seconds spraying a lube on the mechanisms and they both fully engage and dis-engage. You can even do it without taking off the door panel. Roll the window all the way down, and look in from the top. At the latch end of the door are most of the pieces you need to get. If you decide to spray the actuator too, you will need to take off the door panel.

Yeah mine did the same thing after I used PB Blaster. Hard part is getting the
door trim panel off and the plastic covering. But it works like new now!

Does it have a slot to get behind the clip so you can pry the clip away from the door?

Re: power door lock problem

Actually that V shaped slot is for installation. You put one side of the V inside the hole and rotate it. On some clips there's 2 rings of plastic that you would insert the tool between to pry it out.

On others, there's only one ring, that you simply need to get under the one ring to lift it out.

so i bought that tool today 7bucks from advance auto parts.( i really recommend it it made everything so easy to remove) i saturated all the locking mechanisms and all the bar connections. also saturated the actuator arm and the plastic clips on the door frame with jig a loo. then i went back through and saturated everything with white lithium grease so i dont have to go back in there anytime soon. good as new locks working great and like mentioned has that new car clunk noise

Did you do the window tracks as well? My windows still seem to go up slowly. I'll probably have to replace the motors.

I just buy paper towels and glass cleaner at the Dollar Tree. Everything is $1 Dollar there. But yeah that Lithium Grease makes for a nasty mess.

Re: power door lock problem

If you took the door panel off then you just shoot where you have to shoot it and don't make to much of a mess. but yea I Thought it was my actuator motor and then in reality it was all of the moving parts.

Re: power door lock problem

the windows are designed to move slowly.... the volts get knocked down going the the window motor.. I have a set of doors I sold and I had to pull the lock cylinders out,, so I cut one of the plugs and stripped the wire ends.... used a 12 volt drill battery to give em power so I could get to the locks. With a 12v power supply they fly up.... 2xs faster than they did on the car.

Re: power door lock problem

I tried this the other day I only had some wd 40 but it got the driver side workn great. However the pass side is still lacking enough to fully engage the lock, so im gonna try some lithium grease and if that doesnt work i gusee ill replace the actuator. Great tip though.
