Anyone have a picture of the hatch pulldown motor and wire assembly?
I took out my trunk pieces today to get my third brake light working and attached a connector. So i figured mise well see how I could get my pulldown motor to work. But it looks like there is a missing connector and loose wires everywhere. I have a 1987 camaro. Does anybody have a picture of all the wires connected for the pulldown motor? I need to see what I am missing and what goes where. Thank you

All I could find was a parts list and not a wiring diagram. I will continue to search what i have.

I have a complete .pdf file that is 3mb. It is for the entire car. I am not sure how to send you just the hatch wiring diagram. PM me and maybe I will send you the whole file on Monday via email.

The striker-sensing switch includes all the wiring for the pull-down unit. Here's what plugs into what. The red/white stripe wire from your car is +12 volt for the pull-down unit and plugs into the blue wire. For 86-87 that would be the large white connector. For 88-91 it is a smaller black connector. The black wire with ring terminal is ground and scres to the ground location on the body. The white wire with a small black connector on the end is unused for your model year. For 89-91 model years the white wire plugs into a black with orange stripe wire to provide a switched ground to turn on and off the rear hatch light. The white connector with brown, orange, white and blue wires plugs into the reversing switch. The black socket connector has the pull-down relay plugged into it.
If your wires are "messed up" you can buy a brand new striker-sensing switch from my web site (until I run out).

Maybe these pictures will help. I tried following what you said but I am definitely missing parts it seems.

Re: Anyone have a picture of the hatch pulldown motor and wire assembly?

Yes you're missing some parts. I don't see the motor or motor housing, gearnut, reversing switch, or bolt and nut. Take a look at the picture of a remanufactured pull-down unit I'm posting. Then either go to a pick-a-part or my web site and purchase the items you're missing. Being that the motor is missing you'll either need a used one from a pick-a-part (many high-end GM cars such as Cadillac use the same motor). Or get a complete deluxe hatch repair kit TDS 300310 which includes the new motor with integral motor housing, guides, gear nut, push nut and relay. You'll also need a reversing switch (TDS 205180). Being your car is an 87 it originally had a bolt and locking nut instead of a trunion pin and push nut. A push nut and pin are easier to install and remove, but either one will work to attach the lift rod to the latch assembly.

Or you can order a complete remanufactured pull-down unit from my site and return your unit for a partial refund of your $75 core deposit. I wouldn't be able to give you a full refund of your core deposit since some parts are missing as I mentioned.
