Re: Fog on Speedometer Cluster Please help!

Is it fogged from moisture or just hazzing. You can sand it with 2k to 12k sandpaper.I bought some at a hobby store & Ive used it on my tailights & also the cluster lense. Then just buff the area afterwards. If it fogging!well then no cleaner will help. You have some warm air(heater maybe) or worse, water around the area fogging up the lense.Id remove the dash lid & see whats going on in there.Sory i dont have more to offer.

Re: Fog on Speedometer Cluster Please help!

What ended up happening is I got my car Detailed and then I didnt vent the windows . I came back the next morning and everything was fogged up on the lens so I wiped it off and then aired out the car and everything cleared up but the left lens for the speedometer part and its pretty foggy I can't see the speedometer that well . I tried this light cleaner and that didnt help . I am starting to think I have to try and find a new lens which I can't manage to find one anywhere..

Theere should be lenses at a junkyard near you for like $5. Otherwise try the buffing method

Re: Fog on Speedometer Cluster Please help!

Well, that doesn't make sense. Your lenses were fine then you had it detailed and now it's foggy and you can't get rid of it? I have to ask...Have you taken the lens off and cleaned the reverse side of it? If thats the case, unscrew the face plate and it will expose the screws to take the lens off. Then you can clean the backside. When looking for parts don't forget the "parts wanted" threads on this site. Post a thread that you're looking for a lens and you'll get a ton of responses.

I have taken the lens off and and wiped both sides nothing seems to work . I mean when you look close at it , It looks like its a bunch of small scratches which I just don't understand.

Never knew you could use that on plastic. Does it get out tiny scratches?

Yes, sometimes I get "You're Crazy," but read the back of the label, it's for small scratches in plastic. Works great. It's just an abrasive, like the sandpaper suggestion, just a lot more gentle.

Re: Fog on Speedometer Cluster Please help!

i use 3m buffing compound for paint and clearcoat on plastic and it always works just fine. the key is to use the proper compounds for the depth of the scratches. i just recently did mine and mine were all fine scratches from cleaning with papertowls and stuff. so i just used a swirl mark remover compound and it is flawless now.

Paper Towels are brutal on most fine surfaces on a car. Never use anything made out of wood on mine.
