Re: Installed 4th gen seats in my 89!!

SAD....really sad....It seems there is somebody EVERY OTHER DAY asking a question that has been asked, and answered, a thousand times over. If you about rear seats fitting, you'd know & never hafta post to ask. Try "4th gen seat swap"....Can you even count the # of times this has been asked, before getting tired of counting?

The lack of going on this site, is like DOUBLING the site size. Why don't the Mods just delete the feature? Apparently it is USED anyways..... sigh

Sorry if you think I'm being a *****....But after 10+ years of seeing this happen over & over & over.....Its getting OLD.

A simple "yes" or "no" would have sufficed.

Instead of making the issue your personal bugaboo, for the sake of the board in general, why not sink your energy into rectifying the situation: Perhaps check with mods or JT.

The problem lies with Newbies, not the Mods not JT...They can't control every persons action here. People have to learn to be responsible for their own actions...or lack thereof.

Re: Installed 4th gen seats in my 89!!

And by the way, I did a search and all anyone ever says is that "yes, the seats from a 4th fit in a 3rd gen." I can't be sure that they're referring to both the front and rear seats. A longer search revealed that there is actually a bar on third gens in the back that must be removed to fit the fourth gen rears. And for all that time I spent searching and you spend ranting, you could have just giving me a yes or a no.

Whoever says the bar has to be removed, is wrong.

Done the swap myself.....Never removed the bar, no problems.

The Mods can't MAKE people Search or not, short of putting people on Probation for "violating the TGO search rule"...How long would TGO last then, before a new site was born & everyone moved? TGO was born, because of the 1st incarnation of "TGO".

I don't "incessant complain" to the same people over & over.....If you think I do, it just seems the need to tell Newbies arises way too often.

Geez people....Ya'll are mad at ME, for pointing out other people's mistakes, when the real problem lies with people not using the resources that TGO provides...Like If everyone would actually use the features contained in the sites they go to, not to mention Google & Yahoo......There really wouldn't be many questions to be asked, short of NEW technology ones.

Case and point. I wouldn't have known that if you hadn't of just posted that. So thanks. Was that so hard? I mean... honestly?

I signed up for these forums to be able to ask knowledgeable owners about these cars, instead of finding useless and misinformed information doing Google searches. If everything can be found on Google, then why bother having TGO?

You were new at some point too. Don't be so arrogant.

The bar probably is the hinge(s) on the thirdgen with split rear seats. Apparently, they're not an obstruction.

A straight bench seat wouldn't be equipped with those hinges.

To which I pointed out JUST above...I'VE done the swap PERSONALLY (from 3rd gen split to 4th gen bench). Never removed them. Worked JUST fine.

I believe this is an example of the arrogance that Polish mentioned. Polish that diplomacy a bit. Note my edit.

NO....The problem is with people like YOU.....Jumping to "answer" a question (with the wrong answer, BTW), without reading through the rest of a thread, to see if it has already been answered. 63 minutes after it was answered, you answered it WRONG.

And I'M the bad person? Who passed on wrong information, when the CORRECT answer was already posted???

Re: Installed 4th gen seats in my 89!!

My problem is....People ask a question that I KNOW the answer already exists...I do a search & find the answer, on the FIRST try.

Even the rear seat split to bench bar "problem".....Took ONE search, & IIRC, it is was in the 2nd result.

So much for peoples "I searched....."

Thanks James. Now I just need to see if those rears are still at the junkyard.

This is kind of knit picking, but do the front floor mats from the 4th gen fit the odd shape of the floor in the 3rd gen?

Junk yard, check the classifieds (I have sold a set on here before), or check a local racing/automotive forum in your area.

Even people who do use search and resurrect old threads are harrassed for resurecting old threads... Go figure!

My post count is low b/c i DO use search.. I also dont feel the need to comment on every single thread telling people to use search all the time or about how "big rims are stupid" or nobody should attempt anything that isnt mainstream in the thirdgen world..

Rant over.

Re: Installed 4th gen seats in my 89!!

I found them in a junkyard. they just got a 4th gen in and it was untouched... well, except for the fact that the front was mangled. But the seats were good. I think I spent like $80 for a 3rd gen fender + well and the two 4th gen front seats. They're gray cloth and one of the seatbelt loops broke, but good deal. They work perfectly and really good condition.
