Re: Difference in sun visors

They are perfectly interchangeable, but the T-top ones are smaller.

Buddy of mine put my spare hard top ones in his T-top car.

Re: Difference in sun visors

Only difference Ive noticed is that the T Top visors are curved while the hardtop visors are flat

Re: Difference in sun visors

They ARE different. Specifically both the curvature of the visor (as already mentioned). But more importantly, the mount is also different and not compatible. The t-top cars and 'verts share the sunvisors. Coupes are different.

Re: Difference in sun visors

If the mounts are different....Can the flat panels be swapped, onto the different mounts? I know my hardtop ones went into a t-top car. Dunno, yet, if he just swapped out the panel or the mounts too. I'll hafta ask him.

Yes. Just loosen the screw and slide it off the pin.

I just heard back from the guy I sold my visors to.....

He swapped them COMPLETELY, not just the flat parts.

His words exactly.....
"The mounts are exactly the same, just the size of the visors themselves are different. The t-top ones are tiny and useless. "

He obviously doesn't know what he's talking about:

And obviously, you don't comprehend.....While the DETAILS might be different, even in your pic, the feet look the SAME SIZE. Meaning...Unscrew one, screw in the new...DIRECT swap items.

Re: Difference in sun visors

What about C&C t-tops? I assume they use standard hardtop visors. Also, did the factory t-top cars get the clip things to hold the visors in place, or was that only verts?

Re: Difference in sun visors

I pulled a set of t-top visors from the junkyard and put them in my hardtop and they are huge and cover the rear view mirror. There is a difference in the sive of the visor because I have pulled a couple sets from cars in the junk yard and the t-top ones are larger.

See...That is backwards from both the pics above & my buddys car.....He put my hardtop ones in, because his were small. The pic above shows the t-top ones to be smaller too....

Re: Difference in sun visors

Hey Guys,
I just pulled the old visors out of my 89 rs and sewed new ones. It was really easy if you are handy at all. I replaced the old "cardboard" with a piece of a pizza box top, and made them the visors out of black marine grade vinyl I bought at Jo-Anns for a few bucks. They look much better than the original ones and as ever you can "keep it cheap".

Re: Difference in sun visors

I can "bolt on" a V6 MAF to my 86 IROC too - but that don't mean it's right ! Different style visors will "bolt-in" - but that doesn't change the fact that the Visor itself as well as the visor mounts are not the same.

The wrong visor will "flip" down without any difference in operation - but as the pic clearly shows, the angle of the visor will be at the wrong angle compared tothe roof when mounted. You know that there are 2 styles of roof consoles right,....... the same thing applies here. The "form" of the roof is different and different accessories had to be engineered to account for that.

P.S. C&C cars used the regular hardtop visors as they were hardtops with the roof cut off,........ the T-Top visors mount with 3 screws just like the hardtop style,..... and the T-Top visors are "shorter" than hardtops visors. ( the dif in length can be seen in the pic above. )
